22 November 1943 the 65th saw the big boss of the U. S. Army's foot­
soldiers in the person of Lieutenant General Lesley J. McNair, Commander
of Army Ground Forces, when he made a thorough inspection tour of Camp
Shelby men and installations.
The events of the day ranged all the way from visits to Division Head­
quarters to close scrutiny of the unsung heroes of the pots and pans.
