HOW TO WRITE A MARKETING RESEARCH PROJECT
We consider the following points will writing a
marketing research project:-

Research objective : -It states ,what’s your purpose for the

research you are doing. Marketing research is the
systematic gathering, recording, and analysis of data about
issues relating to marketing products and services. The goal of
marketing research is to identify and assess how changing
elements of the marketing mix impacts customer behaviour.
The term is commonly interchanged with market research;
however, expert practitioners may wish to draw a distinction,
in that market research is concerned specifically with market,
while marketing research is concerned specifically about
marketing processes.

 Questionnaire design:-the question should be such that it

should fulfil your field of search and the question
should be such that respondent feel easy to
understand and fill (try to create most questions
with option.)

Information need
1) Top of mind awareness
2) Ownership
Unadded recall question:
Eg-what are the brand name which you recognize?name
at least three.

Added recall:
Eg- Did you know any brand in all these options?
a)...............
b).................
c)...................
d)....................

 Sample design:-

Step 1-
 Sample elements refers to that number of population
who would be responding the question.
 Sample unit is where the sample element can be
located
 Extent – geographical coverage
East, west, North,south

 Time – At what time the population would be

surveyed.

Step2-
Framing the sample or sample frame-
Developing a list which will make the sample for eg-
class room attendance , floating population-Railway
reservation

Step 3-

Identifying an appropriate sampling procedure

Probability is a frequency of occurrence of event
 Probability sample
Systematic
Single random sample
Cluster-followed by sensors
Stratified
 Non probability sample
Convenient sample
Judgement
Quota
Snow ball

Step 4-

Sample size- 50 or 100 or e.t.c

Step 5-
Remarks
 Data analysis:-to examine the association of the variable
And the data are than edited , codified and
tabulated
 it contains the profile of the respondent
 Show the gender(Male or female)
 Their age
 Occupation
 post graduate
 graduate
 higher studies
 other program
 categories of the product

Basically data analysis is done on 3 bases:-

1. To examine the association dependent on the

variable. [Is the variable dependent or not ] .
y=f(n) or y≠f(n)
2. to determine the degree of association
(How strongly they are dependent to each other)

3. estimating the values of variables

(What % is actually perfered)

 Major findings:- it covers, what are your findings-

1) Finding
2) Conclusion
3) Summary
4) Recommendation
5) Hypotheses

According to your findings we come to the conclusion

reached after examination and investigation than a brief
statement that presents the main point in concise form , than
a proposal for an appropriate course of action.
A proposition or a set of proposition, set forth as an
explanation for the occurrence of some specified group of
phenomenon either asserted merely as a provisional
conjecture to guide investigation (working hypothesis)or
accepted as a highly probable in the light of established facts.

There are two hypothesis they are :-

Null hypothesis &
Hypothesis

Null hypothesis – in this all the equal statements have equal

preferences
Hypothesis – in this we go for one statement to be preferred
