Information Technology Infrastructure Library.

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is a set of books that comprehensively and systematically presents best practices in all phases of the management of an information system including Service Level agreements (SLA).

Each book describes the "infrastructure" -- the hardware, software, computer related communications, documentation, skills, and processes -- required to support one activity of managing an information system. Each book covers a function or aspect of information technology management, providing cross-references to the other books. Together the books form a unique reference set for the management of installed software.

The Library was produced by CCTA, the Government Center for Information

Systems, in consultation with government and industry in the United Kingdom, for

more information see

Software Program Managers Network

Software Program Managers Network (SPMN) mission is directed by the United States Congress to address the very serious threat to, and significant impact on, Armed Service acquisition programs regarding the acute shortage of trained U.S. personnel with the requisite software skills necessary to design and build the large-scale software systems needed to maintain the United States technological edge for our deployed forces and to support force deployment. The TenStep Project Management Process is a methodology for managing work as a project. It is set up to be as flexible as you need to manage your project. For instance, it may not make sense to spend a lot of time on risk management for a project that is 500 hours and is similar to many that were done before. That does not imply that you ignore potential risks - just that you do not spend as much time as you might on another project - say one where you were implementing new technology. http://www.tenstep.com/

The Enhanced Management Framework (EMF) was approved by the Canadian government's Treasury Board in May, 1996 and departments are directed to apply this framework to all projects that have a significant information management or technology component.

The EMF provides solutions to project management concerns experienced in the federal government. It comprises principles, best practices, methodologies, tools, templates, handbooks, guides and standards. These solutions are all accessible through this site. http://www.cio-dpi.gc.ca/emf/

concepts are outlined by the Manifesto for Agile Software Development. The AgileAlliance germinated in the fertilizer of the original AgileAlliance, a group of software professionals that had developed and were practicing lightweight approaches to software development. Responding to requests for a more open, inclusive, and visible way for everyone to participate, most of the founders of the AgileAlliance defined and established the non-profit AgileAlliance. This organization was designed to be lightweight, initially only consisting of a board of directors, one administrator, and a set of bylaws. Just like agile processes, all work and operations within the AgileAlliance is intended to emerge from subsets of members that self-organize into programs. The board of directors had to resist impulses to do top-down planning and is watching to see how successfully the organization emerges and succeeds following agile principles. http://www.agileAlliance.org/home
