DOLORES
For the sixth time, two Munich art institutions – the artists` colony Domagkstraße (Domagk
Kunstunterstützung e.V.) and the city-run art space lothringer13_laden – offer a 10 weeks artist
residency in Munich for art producers from abroad.
During the residency term, the lothringer13_laden show-room (60 m² gallery space) is kept
vacant for studio work following by a 3 weeks solo-exhibition in September.
The resident will be provided with a sleeping accomodation with bathroom adjoining the gallery
in Lothringer Straße and a bike.
This Residency offers a 1,500 euro grant to the approved artist, which can cover living expenses, exhibition pro-
duction, plus 250 euro for travel costs.
DETAILS
Eligibility:
Candidates for DOLORES must not live in Germany at the time of their application; a non-German
citizenship is required. There is no age-limit. Candidates should have a degree in fine arts or an
equivalent / similar qualification. Candidates must not receive additional grants in Munich, neither at
the time of their application nor at the time of the residency.
Project:
Experimental artistic strategies, such as performance, installation art, are preferred, although not a
condition. We strongly encourage applications of artists who reflect and work with the given context
and use the gallery space, the public sphere or certain (social, cultural, historical, architectural...)
aspects of the city as a material for their projects.

DOLORES
Residency:
Since the DOLORES programme focuses on an active dialogue between the resident and his or her
local framework, the candidate's ability to speak German or English is a prerequisite. If interested,
the resident will be brought into contact with the local art scene (art academy, galleries, museums,
artist community). Residence in Munich during August/September 2010, participation and developing
a solo-show for lothringer13/laden are obligatory conditions for the DOLORES residency. During his
or her residency term in Munich, the resident must not work more than 10 h/week besides his or her
artistic activities.
DOLORES includes:
- 60m2 gallery space at lothringer13_laden during residency
- free accomodation at lothringer13_laden
- free WLAN internet access
- project budget of 1.500,- EUR + 250,- EUR for travelling
- a bike
- PR by lothringer13_laden (flyer, listing in local magazines, advertisement through mailing lists)
APPLICATION
Eligible artists are asked to send their e-mail applications
to the following address by 20th April, 2011:
A jury consisting of an external person from the local art scene and the curatorial team of
lothringer13_laden will decide on the proposals by Mai 2011.
