classrooms will be participating
in the Matoska Box Top
Challenge. The classroom that
collects the most box tops by
April 15th will win a pizza party
for their class. Start collecting!!

 WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
In math this week, we started Unit 11,
which explores the ideas of ratio and
proportion. We learned how to determine
proportion situations and practiced solving
them using factor puzzles.
We also continued with Exhibition this
week! Groups worked hard to find even more
sources relating to their topic as they continued
their research. They also began working on
their rough drafts of their written reflection.
This is a one-page reflection that focuses on
how their learning has impacted them
personally. Please help students edit these
drafts at home. The final drafts are due Friday,
April 15. Students are also beginning to plan for
and prepare their display boards and
presentations.
This week in DARE, Officer Just
reviewed facts about cigarette and tobacco
use. Students also looked at different
advertisements relating to alcohol and tobacco.
We are really enjoying our time with Officer
Just so far!
As we approach the spring, please
remind your child to be responsible with
turning work in on time. We are trying to instill
good habits as they make the transition on to
middle school next year. Have a great
weekend! 
SPRING IS HERE!!
Please bring appropriate clothing for the
weather and be prepared to go outside for
gym and recess.
ROOM 115 – CLASS NEWS WAY TO GO!
Congratulations fifth graders on a
fantastic music program! It was great to
see so many families come out to
celebrate the students’ hard work. A
special thanks to Mrs. Farinella for all of
her effort with our program.

REMINDER
There is NO GUM allowed at school. We
have had to remind several fifth graders
about this rule lately. Please remind your
child not to bring any gum to school.
SCHOOL CARNIVAL – MAY 20
Our class is collecting items for the basket
fundraiser the entire month of April. Our
classroom was assigned the theme
WHITE BEAR SPIRIT!
Please donate any new or family friendly items
that fit this theme. Donations of cash, gift cards,
or checks made out to MIPTO will also be
accepted. $1.00 tickets will be sold the night of
the carnival and winning tickets will be drawn
for each basket at the end of the night.
