(a) Find the length of an arch of the cycloid x = θ − sin θ , y = 1 − cos θ between θ = 0 .

(b) Find the points of intersection of r = 1 + sin θ and r = 5 − 3 sin θ (3 marks)

(c) Show that the vector w = ai + bj is perpendicular to the line ax + by + c = 0 .

(b) Show that the surfaces F ( x, y , z ) = x 2 + 4 y 2 − 4 z 2 − 4 = 0 and


G ( x, y, z ) = x + y + z − 6 x − 6 y + 2 z + 10 = 0 are tangent at the point (2,1,1) .
