Smart-L MM/N: Long Range Multi Mission Radar

The SMART-L MM/N radar is a next generation, long range multi-mission radar capable of air, space, and ballistic missile detection up to 2000 km away. It uses active electronically scanned array (AESA) and GaN transmitter technology with dual axis multi-beam receivers to simultaneously track air, space, and ballistic missile targets. PERFORMANCE • Status: under contract
The unique and patented extended long range waveform
and matched processing and flexible scan time results in very
long range performance. It covers an instrumented range of Instrumented limits
maximum 2000 km against space objects and ballistic missile

SMART-L MM/N independently finds Ballistic Missile type Minimum range 5 km


targets. Following fast track initiation, the ballistic target track is
maintained up to zenith. The Ballistic Missile defence capability Tracking capacity 1000 tracks
is based on the extended long range waveform functionality
proven in ballistic missile trails in Hawaii (2006), the “At Sea
Demonstration” (2015) and the “Formidable Shield” (2017)
in the North Sea. Thanks to AESA, Ballistic Missile detection Installation data
range is even improved significantly by applying forward/

EASILY UPGRADABLE AND PREPARED


FOR FUTURE Technical Characteristics
In traditional radar systems the functionality remains unchanged
through its lifespan. However SMART-L MM/N is an AESA Frequency band D-band
programmable radar which is characterized by full flexibility.
Additional capabilities can be introduced during lifetime Update time 5 sec. or shorter (in staring mode)
according to customer needs. This makes the radar future proof
