Class of 2011 Senior Bios
Abria Allah has been in chorus for four years and will never forget her experiences in chorus. Next year she will be either in
Georgia, in the Navy, or still in Florida. Throughout college she plans to study medicine and minor in music. She knows that no
matter what, she will never forget the boone high school chorus and all the performances and all the people she has had the
pleasure of meeting in the midst of it all.

Carolina Arboleda was enrolled in Boone Chorus only for her senior year. Chorus is the class she looks forward the most, and
she likes every second of it. Next fall she will be attending to VCC. She will miss all the time she had spent here.

Nikki Baird has greatly appreciated the wonderful opportunity to make so many great friends. This was both her first and last
year in Boone Chorus. She would like to thank the students that stand next to her in class for putting up with her voice every
single day.

Ashley Connelly is delighted to be a part of the Boone Chorus 2011 Variety Show. She has been in chorus for two years and
has thoroughly enjoyed singing for hours on end for the pleasure of others. Next year she will be attending VCC and majoring in
Musical Theatre. She would like to thank Mr. Doherty and Gene for all of their hard work and time.

Melina Countryman has been in chorus for two years and has loved every moment of it. She will be attending VCC next year
and plans to study musical theatre and film. She only has three words to summarize how she feels about chorus... less than
three <3

Alana Diserio has performed in school choirs for 9 years, including her four years at Boone. She will be attending Valencia's
East Campus, where she plans to dabble in technical theatre with a minor in psychology. Alana loves the chorus program, and
hopes it continues to grow long after she is gone.

Shiyana Farrelly is in her 2nd year of chorus. Next year, she will be attending the University of Central Florida. Her favorite
chorus memory is the talent show at chorus retreat!

Lelah Gainey has been in chorus for only a year but what a year it's been! Next year she plans to attend Valencia college.
Through Valencia and UCF she plans to study digital media. She arrived to us late in the fall but we are happy to have her with
us. Late to the party but just as fun! We will miss her next year.

Sam Graham has been in chorus for two years now. He has a strong love for music, as he has been in several other music
classes and over his high school career and in several bands. As a vocalist and guitarist, he plans to major in music performance
at Valencia and then onwards to UCF. He knows he will succeed in life as long as music remains an active part of his life.

Emma Hunsicker, the current chorus president, has been an enthusiastic chorus member since she entered middle school. She
dreams of building a tree house sturdy enough to hold a grand piano, so she may play with the birds. She is very excited to
continue with her love for singing as a choral music education major next year at FSU. She hopes to see the chorus department
flourish after she says her goodbyes. She would like to thank her parents for supporting her, and Mr. Doherty for all the extra time
he puts in to make chorus spectacular.

Caitlin Killgore has been a part of Boone Chorus for four years and currently serves as co-Vice President of chorus. Next year,
she will attend the University of Florida, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She will, however, continue to live out her love for
music. Caitlin loves her chorus family and wishes them luck in future years.

Cathy Lam has been in chorus for four years. She is very happy and proud to be one of the Vice Presidents. She is planning on
minoring in music and is majoring between nursing, pre-med, or music therapy. She wants to thank her family, friends, and Mrs.
Nelson-Connelly, Ms. Langa, and Mr. D for everything that they’ve done. She loves her chorus family and will miss them!
Class of 2011
Senior Bios (continued)
Jacob LaStarza has been a part of Boone Chorus for two years and Boone Drama for three years. You may have seen him in
Willy Wonka as Grandpa Joe this year. Next year he plans on attending VCC. He would like to thank his parents, his brother, and
all of his friends for always supporting him.
Courtney Lewis has been in chorus at Boone for three years. Having been in Ladies, Women, and now Concert Choir, this year
is definitely her favorite. She plans on attending FIT next year pursuing a degree in chemistry. She will miss singing with her
friends and even the after school rehearsals.
Francisco Lopez-Cruz has only been a part of the Boone Chorus his senior year. He wishes he had joined earlier in his high
school experience. After high school, he will attend VCC and later transfer to UCF to finish his studies in electrical engineering.
Yashira Lopez joined chorus her sophomore year knowing nothing about choir. But after experiencing the music, she fell in love
with it. As a senior, a schedule conflict caused her to join ladies’ choir! After graduation, Yashira will strive towards her goal of
becoming an gynecologist.
Kaley Mead has been in Boone Chorus all four years and it made every day AMAZING! She will be attending Brigham Young
University in Rexburg Idaho this fall and will be studying Communications and Broadcast Journalism, with a minor in Music Ed.
She will miss her time in Boone Chorus tremendously!
Rachel Motta, member of chorus for four years, plans to study History and Political Science at Stetson University and later move
on to Law school. While she won’t pursue music as a career, she will definitely make time for it.
Sarah Persaud has been a part of the Boone Chorus family for 3 years. Next year she will be attending VCC to major in
Computer Science. She will miss singing with her Chorus family, and will be back to visit! Thank you Chorus for making a home
for her these past years.
Cheyenne Sangrey has been in Chorus for three years. She will be attending Valencia Community College in the Fall of 2011.
She loves the music program and everyone involved will be thought of fondly for years to come.
Carlos Santiago is a senior in Concert Choir, and this is his first year as a Chorus student. You may have seen Carlos in various
musical productions, such as Willy Wonka, as Grandpa George, and Annie, as Mr. Warbucks. Carlos plans to pursue theatre/
education in college and plans to be an actor/theatre instructor in the future.
Brittany Stinebaugh has been in chorus for one school year. She has enjoyed every bit of that year. She fully enjoyed all the
interactions and conversations she has experienced throughout the year. She does plan on going to college, though she doesn't
plan on making it a musical path she will never forget the joy it has been.
Nicole Sussan has been in Boone Chorus for 4 years and she has had an amazing time doing it. She plans to go to Seminole
State College after her senior year. She plans to study to be a paralegal. She will miss being a part of the Boone Chorus very
much.
Emely Toro has been a part of chorus all four years. She loves to sing and dance! Next year she will be attending Florida State
University and pursue a career as a lawyer after obtaining a bachelors degree in international affairs. She will always remember
meeting some of her best friends in chorus and obtaining a passion for music.
Lauren Wood has been a member of the Boone Chorus for four years and will miss the friends she has made. Next year, she is
attending Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina and majoring in Forensic Biology. Lauren hopes to join Guilford's
auditioned Chamber Singers to continue pursuing her love for music.
Katie Zarama has participated in the Boone Chorus for three years. She entered her sophomore year with her older sister,
Annie, and has loved every moment since. She'd like to thank Mr. Doherty for tolerating her squalid attempts at composition and
improvisation on the poor, decrepit chorus piano during his would-be sanctimoniously silent lunch periods. That toleration has
contributed to the first successful performances of her work. She also would like to thank the many students in chorus for their
lovely companionship over these past colorful three years.

Top 10 Reasons to Join a Chorus
1. You get to be loud. Always feel like you’re being shushed by teachers and adults? In choir,
you’re actually encouraged to make noise.

2. Friendship. More than 42 million Americans sing in choruses, so you’re sure to make some
new buddies.

3. See the world! Many choirs go on tours to exciting and faraway places.

4. Begin the path to stardom. Mega-celebs Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake started their
careers singing in school and church choirs. Even President Obama was once a choral
singer.

5. Bring home A’s. Research shows that students who sing in choruses get better grades than
students who don’t.

6. Make your college application shine. Admission folks will love to see that you’re involved
in extracurricular activities–especially an activity like choir, which develops teamwork skills
and self-discipline.

7. L’amour. Lots of singers date people they meet in choir, because music is the food of love,
after all.

8. Back rubs. Yeah, that’s right: back rubs. Many choruses do them as part of their rehearsal
warm-ups.

9. No schlepping. Singing does not require carrying around heavy instruments or gym bags.
All you need is your fab voice.

10. Bragging rights. Not everyone can say they’ve been in the spotlight, but you’ll be able to
because singing in a chorus gives you the opportunity to be front and center, baby!
