many cinemas ± digital distribution means public would have access to a wi der range of
films.
Impact on film producers/distributers Potential to save money (can save billions of dollars) replacing prints with discs creates
stiffer competition. An 80 minute print costs $1,500 -$2,500 and can cost millions of
dollars to make thousands of copies. Hard drives can be returned to distributors for re -
use and the hard drives can be bought from a shop for a miniscule fraction of print
costs.
Who has the power « the audience Analyse the impact of audience on institution and vice versa. How have online review
or the institution? Why? systems and social networking sites affected the power of the mass audience ? How
has increased digital distribution changed our viewing habits? Are we demanding new
ways to entice us back into the cinema i.e. 3D/4D (holographic technology).
