 4. USE AND INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS
PRECAUTIONS
• To clean the equipment use a soft cloth and neutral detergent.
DO NOT USE ADDITIVES OR ABRASIVE SUBSTANCES.
• The cordless must be connected to a telephone of the same
homologated type.
IT MUST NOT BE CONNECTED TO ANOTHER CORDLESS.
• Do not use the equipment in particularly hot, cold or very or
damp places for long periods and avoid direct exposure to the
sun rays or to sources of heat.
• Do not lean objects or furniture on the cables or the equipment.
• PROTECT THE EQUIPMENT FROM WATER AND OTHER LIQUIDS.
• Do not use the equipment and do not position the base in
close contact with metallic objects and electrical household
appliances which are switched on since they could cause
interferences and reduce the effectiveness of the cordless.
• The telephone must be kept at least 50cm from other electronic
equipment to avoid interference.
• Put the base on a flat surface.
• If the telephone must be installed on a multi – floor building,
connect the base to the intermediate floor.
• The portable can not work correctly when it is too far away from
the base.
USE THE PROTABLE WITHIN ITS RANGE: APPROXIMATELY 50M
INDOORS, 300M OUTDOORS.
• Once a month completely discharge the batteries and recharge
them in order to lengthen the charge and the battery life .
WARNING! ONLY USE RECHARGEABLE AAA 1,2V BATTERIES.
• Only use the supplied adapter to connect the base of the
equipment; the use of another adapter could cause serious
damage.

 INSTALLATION

4.1 DEVICE SUPPLY

WARNING
The electrical plug must be installed in the vicinity of the equipment
and it must be easily accessible.

1. Connect the plug positioned at the end of the supplied

adapter cable with the specific electric plug, positioned
behind the base.
2. Insert the adapter plug into the wall plug.

4.2 CONNECTING THE PHONE

1. Connect the plug positioned on the end of the supplied

adapter cable with the specific plug, positioned behind the
base .
2. Insert the three-pole telephone plug, positioned on the other
end of the cable, into the telephone wall plug.

4.3 INSTALLING THE BATTERIES

1. Position the portable with the keyboard facing downwards.

2. Unclip the battery cover on the portable by pressing the cover
and pulling it towards you.
3. Put the two batteries in the slots according to the poles
indicated inside.
4. Close the battery compartment by sliding the cover up and
applying a little pressure on it.

WARNING!
BEFORE USING THE EQUIPMENT IT IS ADVISABLE TO LEAVE THE
PORTABLE ON CHARGE FOR AT LEAST 15 HOURS IN THE SPECIFIC
COMPARTMENT, TO ENSURE THAT THE BATTERIES ARE COMPLETELY
CHARGED.

 4.4 HOW TO RECHARGE THE PORTABLE BATTERIES

When the portable is discharged (that is when the display shows

the symbol ) to recharge it put the portable in the specific
compartment WITH THE KEYBOARD FACING TOWARDS you. Leave
it on charge for 15 hours to enable the full recharging of the
batteries.

4.5 HOW TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES

WARNING: Only use AAA 1,2 V rechargeable batteries.

When the hours of the batteries autonomy start to reduce even if

the batteries have been correctly recharged, it means that they
have run out and should be replaced: follow the instructions set
out in the “4.3 Installing the batteries” paragraph.

WARNING:
After each battery installation, the display always shows the symbol
( ). Leave the portable on charge on its base for 15 hours.

 5. FUNCTIONS DESCRIPTION AND USE
Introduction
When the cordless is on standby, that is when the line is not
engaged and no operation is being carried out, the display shows
the message “-1-”.

5.1 HOW TO ANSWER A CALL

• When a call is recieved, the portable rings and the icon on

the display flashes.
If the cordless is directly connected to the telephone line (not
using the PABX control box) and the identification of the caller
service has been activated by you, the display shows the
telephone number of the caller (if available).
• At this point:
− If the portable is not on the base press to use the line and
to answer: the icon will be shown on the display.
− If the portable is on the base, to answer you only need to lift
it up and the line is automatically engaged; It is no longer
necessary to press the key.
• To end the conversation press the key again or replace the
portable onto the base. The icon on the display will go off.

5.2 TO CARRY OUT A CALL

MANUAL SELECTION
• Press to engage the line.
• When the line is engaged, the icon on the display comes on.
• Check that there is a tone and dial your number into the
keyboard.
• The number selected is shown on the display, if the number is

--
more than 11 figures long, the display shows only the last 10 and
the symbol is displayed on the left to show that there are
other figures.
• At the end of the conversation press the key again or replace
the portable onto its base, the line will become disengaged.

 PRE-SELECTION
• With the line free, dial a number of up to a maximum of 18 figures
on the keyboard.
• The figures appear on the display and the user can check them
before engaging the line.
• If the figures are wrong, briefly press the C/ key to delete the
last figure only; to cancel the whole number, press and keep
pressed the C/ key.
• After checking the number, press to engage the line.
• The figures will be selected after the line engagement.
• At the end of the conversation, hang up by pressing the key
or replace the portable onto its base.

Note: If your equipment is connected to a PABX control box,

whilst dialling the number it is necessary to leave a pause
of some seconds between the code of the control box and
the telephone number. To leave a pause press and keep
pressed for two seconds the 0, key, the display will show a
“P”.

SELECTING A NUMBER FROM A FAST MEMORY

If you have previously recorded the number in the fast memory,
to request it simply press and keep pressed the 1 key. The line will
be engaged and the number called. To record the number, see
paragraph “6.9 FAST MEMORY”.

SELLECTING A NUMBER FROM THE MEMORY

(In cases of recorded number, see paragraph “6.6 MEMORY
PROGRAMMING”).
• Press the , key, the number of the first memory cell appears,
followed by the recorded telephone number (if registered); for
example: “0-011 6473081”.
• Repeatedly press the key to scroll down the list of the
recorded numbers (they are shown in memory cell order (from 0
to 9) or else press the key number (0-9) which corresponds to the
memory cell chosen.
• Press to engage the line and call the number.
• At the end of the conversation, hang up by pressing the key
or replace the portable onto its base.

 5.3 CALLER IDENTIFICATION

If the caller identification service has been activated at the

telephone managing company, when a call arrives the display
shows the corresponding caller number (if available).
In cases of calls from a private number, the display shows the
message “----”.
The cordless phone records the number of the last 10 calls received
and UNANSWERED.
In cases of numbers of unanswered calls which have not been
checked, the display shows the icon “ ”.
To enter the list, see the following paragraph.

NOTE:
• If your cordless is connected to a PABX exchange extension, the
caller identification service is only active if it is supported by the
exchange it self.
• The first 18 figures of the received call numbers will be recorded.

RECEIVED CALLS LIST

Accessing the list
• When the telephone is on standby, press the key ?, the display
will show the last unanswered call.
• If the key ?, is pressed again, the display shows the number of
the other calls received.
• After showing the last number on the list, the display will show the
message “------------”. Press the key ?, again and the display
will show the first number of the list.
• To exit the list and go back to the standby status, press and
immediately release the C/ key.

Requesting one of the listed numbers

• Choose the required number and press the key , the line will
be engaged and the number dialled.

Deleting a number from the list

If you want to, it is possible to delete a number form the list through
a simple operation:
• when the telephone is on standby, enter the list and choose the
number to be deleted by repeatedly pressing the key ?;

 • when the display shows the required number, press and keep
pressed the key C/ , the number will be deleted and a short
confirmation beep will be issued. The display then shows the next
number recorded on the list.

5.4 LIST OF THE LAST TEN SELECTED NUMBERS

Your cordless records the number of the last 10 calls carried out (18
figures per number at maximum) and offers you the option to call
them back.

Recalling the last dialled number (with line engaged)

• First press the key to engage the line.
• Then press the key , to display and dial the number.

Note1: If more than 18 figures were dialled in the previous call, only
the first 18 will be recorded and automatically repeated.
Note2: If your telephone is connected to a PABX exchange, to
use this function it is necessary to insert a pause between
the external line access code and the telephone number
during the dialling phase. To do so press and keep pressed
for two seconds the key 0.

Accessing the list of the last 10 dialled numbers

• When the telephone is on standby, press the key , the display
will show the last selected number.
• If the key , is pressed again, the display shows the numbers
of the other calls carried out.
• After showing the last number on the list, the display will show
the message “------------”. Press the key , again and the
display will show the first number on the list.
• To exit the list and go back to the standby status, press and
immediately release the C/ key.

Recalling one of the list numbers

• Choose the required number and press the key , the line is
engaged and the number dialled.

Deleting a number from the list

If you want to, it is possible to delete a number from the list through

5.5 CORDLESS OPERATING UNDER PBAX EXCHANGE: PAUSE

OPERATION

If your telephone is connected to a PABX exchange, to dial a

number it is necessary to insert a pause between the external line
access code and the telephone. To do so, press and keep pressed
for two seconds the key 0 until the message “P” is shown on the
display.

5.6 R FUNCTION AND FLASH TIME SETTING

Use the R key to access the Extra Telephone services offered

by the telephone network managing company. This key is also
necessary to operate with some exchanges:
if the R key is pressed when the line is engaged, the R signalling is
sent on the line.

Flash time setting

• When the key is pressed the display shows the message “P-”.
• When the key R, is pressed, the display shows the message
“P-r 2 7”.

 • Press the keys 1 to 7 to set the time:
− 1= 80ms
− 2=100ms
− 3= 120ms
− 4= 180ms
− 5= 250ms
− 6= 300ms
− 7= 600ms
• Press the key to confirm the operation. A short acoustic signal
will be issued.

WARNING: for proper warning on Italian networks, the flash time

must be set to 100 ms.

5.7 MICROPHONE EXCLUSION FUNCTION

If required, during a conversation it is possible to temporarily

exclude your caller by quickly pressing the key C/ . The display will
show the symbol “ ” and the microphone will be excluded.
Press the key C/ , again to deactivate this function and restart the
telephone conversation.

5.8 PORTABLE SEARCH FUNCTION

This function is useful when you can not find your portable phone.
• On standby, press and release the key situated on the base;
the portable will issue an acoustic signal.
• The signal will continue for approximately 1 minute and then it
will automatically stop.
• To interrupt the acoustic signal, press the key on the base
again or the key on the portable.

5.9 KEY LOCK

To avoid unintentionally pressing the portable keys, it is possible to

temporarily lock them. In this way no operations can be carried
out, the line can not be engaged and no number can be dialled.

 • To lock the keys, with the telephone on standby, press and
maintain pressed for a few seconds the key ; a confirmation
beep will be issued and the icon “ ” will be shown on the
display.
• To unlock the keys, press and keep pressed the key , the
display will show the icon “ ”.

5.10 TEMPORARY RING EXCLUSION

• To exclude the ring temporarily, with the portable on standby,

press and keep pressed the , key. The symbol“ ” will be
shown on the display.
• To activate the ring again, press and keep pressed the key .
The symbol “ ” will disappear from the display.

WARNING: when this function is active, the portable does not ring
if a call is received. The call will only be signalled by the icon
which will flash on the display.

 6. FUNCITONS PROGRAMMING
6.1 PIN CODE TO ACCESS THE FUNCTIONS

The programming of some of the functions is protected by

an access code (PIN). The PIN code programmed during the
production phase is “0000”, but it can be personalised through
simple programming operations.
WARNING: Carefully and safely keep the programmed secret
code, otherwise it will be impossible to access all the functions for
which the PIN is required.
The following instructions show how to modify the code:
• Press the key and then 1, the display shows the message:
“_ _ _ _”.
• Type the old code and press to confirm it.
• Type the new code, which must be made of 4 figures and press
the key to confirm.
• Re-dial the new code to confirm and press the key again.

6.2 EMERGENCY CALL (BABY CALL)

This operation is useful when the cordless is used by children or by

old people. As a matter of fact, in case of need, it enables you to
call a previously recorded number at any time and by pressing any
key (apart from the key ).

Warning: this function is only active if the emergency number is

previously recorded.

Emergency number recording

• With the telephone on standby, press the key and then 3 , the
display shows the message “_ _ _ _”.
• Input the secret code required to access programming (the code
set during the production phase is 0000) and press the key .
• If the code is not correct, the display will return to standby; if it is
correct, the message “_” will flash on the display.
• Enter the emergency number to be set (if the telephone is
connected with a PABX exchange, remember to insert a pause
by pressing and keeping pressed the key 0) and press the key .

 A confirmation beep will be issued and the telephone will return
to standby.

Activating this operation

• Press the key and 2 .
• If the emergency number has not been set, the portable returns
to standby, otherwise the display shows the message “_ _ _ _”.
• Enter the secret code to enter programming (the code set
during the production phase is 0000) and then the key .
• The display shows the emergency number as previously set; press
the key again to confirm the activation of the function. The
emergency number will remain on the display.

Deactivating this operation

• Press the key and 2 .
• Enter the secret code to enter programming (the code set
during the production phase is 0000) and then the key . If the
password is correct, the display will remain empty, Press the key
, again: the operation will be deactivated and the portable
will return to standby.

6.3 PROGRAMMING THE LISTENING VOLUME LEVEL

• Press the key and 4 , the display shows the message:

“P - 4 2 3”
r
• It is possible to choose among three levels of listening volume:
− low volume: press the key 1, the display shows the message:
“P - 4 1 3”;
r
− medium volume: press the key 2 , the display shows the
message:
“P - 4 2 3”;
r
− high volume: press the key 3, the display shows the message:
“P - 4 3 3”.
r
• Press the key to confirm.

6.4 PORTABLE RINGING MELODY

It is possible to choose among 6 different melodies.

During the production phase the melody number 1 has been set.

 • Press the key and 5 , the display will show the message “P-5
1 6” (where 1 indicates the number of the melody chosen and

6 the total number of melodies).
• Press a key from 1 to 6 to listen to and choose the melody, once
chosen, press the key again to confirm.

6.5 PORTABLE RING VOLUME

You can choose between 3 volume levels.

Level 3 (loud) has been set during production.
• Press the key and 6 , the display will show the message “P-6
1 3” (Where 1 indicates the volume level chosen and 3 the total
r
number of levels):
− 1= low level
− 2= average level
− 3= loud level
• Press a key from 1 to 3 listen to and choose the volume, once
chosen, press to the key again to confirm.

6.6 PROGRAMMING MEMORIES

The cordless has 10 memories (from 0 to 9) where you can record

the telephone numbers which you most frequently use. Every
memory can contain a number consisting of up to 18 figures (even
if the display, once the record is requested, shows only the last ten
figures).

Recording a number
• Press the key and , the display will show the display shows
the first memory cell “0-”.
• Repeatedly press the key to choose the memory cell where
you want to record the number.
• Type in the telephone number, remembering to insert a pause
(press and keeping pressed for 2 seconds the 0 key). If your
telephone is connected to a PABX exchange. The display will
show the number you typed in; for example: “0-0116474407”,
where the first number indicates the memory cell chosen.
• After press the key for confirmation.

 NOTE: Whilst dialling the number, to cancel the last digit, press
and immediately release the C/ ; key ; to cancel the whole
number press and keep pressed the key C/ .

Modification and cancellation of a number

• Press the key and , the display will show the first memory
cell “0-”.
• Repeatedly press the key to choose the memory cell
required.
• Press and immediately release the C/ key to cancel the last
figure, then use the numerical keyboard to type the new figure;
or else press and keep pressed the C/ key to cancel the whole
number.
• Lastly press the key for confirmation.

NOTE: To exit from the memory programming:

− Press and keep pressed the C/ , key , the telephone number will
be cancelled and the display will only show the number of the
cell.
− Press the C/ , key again, the equipment will go back to standby.

Requesting a record
See “Selection from memory” in the paragraph “5.2 CARRYING
OUT A PHONE CALL”.

6.7 CANCELLATION OF THE WHOLE MEMORY LIST

• Press the key and 0.

• Press .
• Press .
All the ten recorded numbers have been deleted.

6.8 CANCELLATION OF THE WHOLE RECEIVED (and not answered)

CALLS LIST

• Press the key and 0.

• Press the key ?.
• Press .
All the twenty numbers of the received calls have been deleted.

 6.9 FAST MEMORY

It is possible to record a frequently used number in order to be able

to quickly dial it through the key 1.

RECORDING THE NUMBER

1. Press the key and 8.
2. Enter the 4 figure PIN code (default code 0000) and then press
the key again.
3. Dial the telephone number and press the key to confirm.

RECALLING THE NUMBER

To recall the recorded number, press and keep pressed the key 1,
the line will be engaged and the number will be dialled.

6.10 RESETTING THE FACTORY PROGRAMMING

• Press the key and 9.

• The display shows the message “_ _ _ _”. nput the secret
code (the default code is 0000) and press the key . Factory
programming will be reset as shown by the following table.

 7. GUARANTEE
Together with all the Brondi products, DC2010 is guaranteed for 12
months.
Inside the DC2010 packaging there is the specific guarantee card.
In order to make it valid, you must:

− fill in all its parts

− join it to a proof of the purchase (till receipt, invoice, etc…)

In order to correctly fill the guarantee card it is necessary to write:

the name of the purchased product (DC2010), its serial number
(SN) which is situated under the base (unless it is already printed on
the guarantee card).

It is necessary to dispose
of electric and electronic
equipment separately.

Brondi reserves the right to modify with no notice this product

specifications and performances.
