Branches on a banking organization and their performances”.

1.2 Objectives of the Study

The main objectives of the term paper is to -

Large Branches on a banking organization
 Find out that whether the difference is for size or for policy of
the banking organization

x
1.3 Scope

This Term Paper having a great deal of issues has provided us a wide
range of scope of doing analysis &, interpretation. Here we have included
the present scenario of Difference in Human Resource Management
Practice in Small and Large Branches on a banking organization and their
performances”.

1.4 Methodology

This Term Paper is an exploratory type of study. We have used two type’s
primary and secondary data. It has made the Term Paper more realistic.
That is --
(1) Primary data :
We collected primary data by survey through
questioner.
(2) Secondary data:
We collected Secondary data through internet,
annual repot, text book, SPSS . It has made the Term Paper more realistic.

1.5 Limitation

One of the noticeable limitations of the study is the lack of experience of

us. We are new in this field and not skilled about the process of
analyzing. The complex data collection procedures are also stood still as
an obstacle in the way of our research. In case of the survey in bank and
data collection, though we have managed to have appointments but one
big problem were our insufficient information that is the sample is not
sufficient for this research.

xv
3.0 THEORIZING

3.1 Commitment:
Means to show loyalty, duty or pledge to something or someone, and can refer to:

• Personal commitment: Interaction dominated by obligations. These obligations

may be mutual, or self-imposed, or explicitly stated, or may not. Distinction is
often made between commitment as a member of an organization (such as a
sporting team, a religion, or as an employee), and a personal commitment, which
is often a pledge or promise to ones' self for personal growth.
• Brand: commitment refers to the strength of the relationship between consumers
(or customers) and a particular brand (or service).

xvi
• Involuntary commitment, the practice of using legal means or forms to commit a
person to a mental hospital, insane asylum or psychiatric ward against the will or
over the protests of that person.
• Ontological commitment, belief in an ontology in philosophy.
• Cell commitment, the molecular event that Leeds to cellular differentiation.
• Organizational commitment can mean something pledged by an organization as
opposed to its members. [3]

3.1 Control:

Control is one of the managerial functions like planning, organizing, staffing and
directing. It is an important function because it helps to check the errors and to take the
corrective action so that deviation from standards are minimized and stated goals of the
organization are achieved in desired manner. According to modern concepts, control is a
foreseeing action whereas earlier concept of control was used only when errors were
detected. Control in management means setting standards, measuring actual performance
and taking corrective action. Thus, control comprises these three main activities. [4][5]

policy in large organization and small organization. In this table, there contains 12
dimension. Each dimension is divided into two parts:
1. Large organization.

5.0 Findings
Our findings of whether City Bank’s activity is Control or Commitment are given below

In both organization, Job Scope (dimension), p value is 0, which refers there is

significant difference. Mean in large organization is 2.8, which we can say that in
between control and commitment policy but in small organization as mean is 2
definitely control policy is being used.

In Task analysis part both of organizations p value is 0 which refers there is significant
difference. But as mean in large and small organization is 3 we can say
commitment policy is being used.

In Supervision part p value in large organization 0 but p value in small organization p

value is .001 which is also almost 0%, means significant difference.
Mean large =3.5 almost commitment policy.

xix
Mean small = 4.4, 100% commitment policy.
Subsequently, if we look at all the p value of rest of the dimension it says it is 0 which
refers there is significant difference. But as the mean varies policy also varies and the
result is given bellow:

Dimensions Size Mean Decision

Large 1.4 Control Policy
Organization Structure Small 2.8 Between control and commitment
Large 4 Commitment policy
Learning Small 3.8 Commitment policy
Large 4.1 Commitment policy
Training Small 4.2 Commitment policy
Large 4.2 Commitment policy
Employee Role Small 4.3 Commitment policy
Large 2.9 Between control and commitment
Status Small 2.8 Between control and commitment
Large 1.3 Control Policy
Employee Participation Small 1.5 Control Policy
Large 4.3 Commitment policy
Decentralization Small 1.8 Control Policy
Large 1.7 Control Policy
Social Activities Small 2 Control Policy
Large 2.3 Control Policy
Basic Payment Small 2.6 Control Policy

Though statistical analysis says if p value is 0 their will be a significant difference in

policy but as our sample is only 10 which is not the representative of whole population
we have to depend on mean to determine the decision, as below 3 is control policy and
upper 3 is commitment policy.

For large branch, dimension wise Commitment=4

Control=6
And the rest of the two dimensions between control and commitment are being used.

For small branch, dimension wise Commitment=6

Control=4
And the rest of the four dimensions between control and commitment are being used.
Decisions: So large branch tends to control and small branch tends to commitment
policy.
From our research of both branches of City Bank we get the grand mean
Small Branch
Employee 1=

xx
(3+3+1+1+5+5+1+1+5+5+2+4+5+5+2+2+1+1+5+1+2+1+2+2)/24= 65/24= 2.708
Employee 2=

Employee 3=
(3+3+4+1+5+5+1+5+5+5+5+5+5+5+2+2+1+1+5+1+1+1+2+2)/24= 75/24= 3.125
Employee 4=
(4+1+3+4+3+4+4+2+5+5+4+3+5+5+5+4+3+5+5+5+4+2+5+5)/24= 95/24= 3.958
Employee 5=
(2+2+3+4+5+4+2+1+5+5+5+5+3+3+3+3+1+1+5+5+5+5+5+5)/24= 87/24= 3.628
16.208
Now 16.208/5= 3.242
As small branch shows the mean3.242 it shows the commitment policy uses into the
organization.
Big Branch
Employee 1=
(3+3+3+2+4+4+2+2+2+2+3+3+4+4+5+5+1+1+1+1+1+1+2+2)/24= 57/24= 2.375
Employee 2=
(2+2+2+2+3+5+1+5+4+3+4+4+3+3+3+2+1+1+5+1+3+3+3+2)/24= 67/24= 2.792
Employee 3=
(1+1+5+5+1+2+1+5+3+2+4+4+4+4+2+3+2+2+2+1+1+1+1+5)/24= 62/24= 2.583
Employee 4=
(1+3+3+4+4+4+1+1+2+2+5+5+5+5+2+2+1+1+5+1+1+1+1+1)/24= 61/24= 2.542
Employee 5=
(4+1+3+3+3+5+1+4+4+4+5+5+4+5+2+2+1+1+5+1+1+1+1+1)/24= 67/24= 2.792
13.084
Now 13.084/5= 2.617

As large branch shows the mean2.617 it shows the control policy uses into the
organization.

So our analysis says that policy differs according to the size of the
organization. [6]

xxi
6.0 Conclusion

On whole we tried to find out that whether there is any difference in

practice of HR policy in large and small branch of a banking organization.
And we came out with the finding that the hr policy differs in branch size.
That is small branches policy varies from big branch. But in preparing this
term paper we face some limitations that may hampered little bit our
findings. One big problem was the lack of experience of us and the
number of the sample that we use for the research is few. For which were
not able to find out real picture of hr policy’s difference. But we tried to
find out the result that is hr policy varies in size of branches.
