Ques.1 What do you mean by Layers? Why we use Layers? Can we move layers from one image
to another?
Ans. 1 Layers are the sheets of pixels that can be edited independently without affecting the
other parts of the image.

We use Layers because of the following reasons: -

 Layers are useful in adding a higher degree of flexibility to Photoshop documents.

 Layers are very helpful as they allow the users to keep various elements of an image
separate so that when a particular element is changed, the underlying or the surrounding
pixels remain unchanged.

Yes, we can move layers from one image to another. This is very helpful as it saves us the
trouble of copying a layer from one document and pasting it into another one. The following
steps are needed to be taken if we want to move layers from one image to another: -

i. Open the source document (from which we want to copy a layer) and a destination
document (to which we want to copy the layer).

ii. Activate the source document window by clicking on it. The layers palette appears
showing the layers of the source image.

iii. Place the cursor on the appropriate layer in the layer palette and drag the layers from the
layers palette of the source document into the destination document window. A dashed
border will surround the layer we are copying.

iv. Position the layer on the image to which we want to move it and release the mouse
button.

v. The copied layer is placed above the previously active layer in the layers palette of the
destination document.

Ques.2 We would like to move more than one layer without affecting the distance between them.
What we will do? Write the steps that we will follow to do the above task.
Ans. 2 We would like to move more than one layer without affecting the distance between them.
For this we will use Linking the layers option which means making a chain of layers. For
example, to move the Foreground object, along with its shadow (the object and shadow are
contained in separate layers).

The following are the steps to Link Layers: -

i. Select the two layers, to be linked in the Layers Palette by pressing the Shift key in key.

ii. Click on the Layer menu in the menu bar. A list of options appears on the screen.

iii. Click on Link Layers option in the list.

iv. Look at the layers palette. If layer is linked then a chain icon appears in the box of all the
layers indicating that the layers are linked.

v. To unlink a linked layer, again click on the Layer menu and then on the Unlink Layers
options. The link is broken and the layers are separated.

Ques.3 What is the use of Filters? List few filters available in Photoshop. Explain any 2 filters in
detail.

Ans. 3 Filters enable us to add a variety of special effects to our image. The following are the
uses of Filters: -

i. Filters are used as a substitute for the traditional photographic technique of filtering
which is used for adjusting light, but it soon became very different, and pretty more
advanced and versatile than the earlier traditional filtering.

ii. We can modify our images in a number of ways using Filters.

The following are the Filters available in the Photoshop: -

i. Extract Filters

ii. Liquify Filters

iii. Vanishing Point Filters

iv. Artistic Filters: - It has two important parts i.e. Cutout and Neon Glow

v. Blur Filters: - It consists of Gaussian Blur and Motion Blur etc.

vi. Brush Stroke Filters: - It consists of Accented Edges, Crosshatch etc.

vii. Noise Filters: - It comprises of Add Noise, Dust Scratches and Lighting Effects.
viii. Sharpen Filters:- It has options of Sharpen and Sharpen More an Sharpen Edges.

Extract Filters: - The Extract Filter dialog box provides a sophisticated way to isolate a
foreground object and erase its background on a layer. Even objects with wispy, intricate, or
undefinable edges may be clipped from their backgrounds with a minimum of manual work.

Liquify Filters: - The liquefy filter lets us push, pull, rotate, reflect, pucker and bloat any area of
an image. The distortions we create can be subtle or drastic, which makes the liquefy command a
powerful tool for retouching images as well as creating artistic effects.

PART – B
Ques.4 CorelDraw provides many options known as VIEW MODES to view the documents that
we design in it. Explain them.

Ans. 4 In Corel Draw the term ‘VIEW’ refers to the way of viewing the documents. Corel Draw
provides six types of view modes. For example, sometimes we do not require the menu bar, the
toolbars and other things on the screen, we just need to view the document without all these
screen components. In that case we can use the full screen view.

The following are the different types of View Modes present in Corel Draw: -

NORMAL VIEW: - It displays the normal view of the drawing. For viewing the drawing in
normal view, we need to take following steps: -

 Click on the View menu bar option. A list of options appears on the screen.

 In this list, click on the Normal option. The document appears on the screen.

FULL SCREEN PREVIEW: - Full Screen Preview provides us a full view of the work and
hides all other components of the screen. It shows how the work appears when printed. We need
to take following steps for viewing the document in full screen mode: -

 Click on the View menu bar option. A list of options appears on the screen.

 In this list, click on the Full Screen Preview option. The document appears full screen.

SIMPLE WIREFRAME VIEW: - This view hides all the complex object properties and
displays the bitmaps in black and white. This view is especially useful for editing graphics, even
the complex ones, quickly and easily. This is because Corel Draw can display black outlines
faster than colored ones. For viewing the graphics in Simple Wireframe Mode, we need to take
the following steps: -

 Click on the View menu bar option. A list of options appears.

 In this list, click on the Simple Wireframe option. The document appears in the Simple
Wireframe view.

 To get back to the normal view, click on the normal option of the view menu bar option.

WIREFRAME VIEW: - The Wireframe view also allows us to edit our drawings quickly. It
displays the drawing in a skeletal form. However in this mode, the number of black thin outlines
are more than that of the simple wireframe view. The following steps are needed to be taken for
displaying a document in the wireframe view: -

 Click on the View menu bar option. A list of options appears on the screen.

 In this list click on the wireframe option. The document appears in the wireframe view.

DRAFT VIEW: - This view is used for an accurate display of solid fills. A fill is the color or
pattern that spreads entirely inside the outline of an object. Solid colors represent fountain fills.
For changing to the draft view, undertake the following steps: -

 Click on the View menu bar option. A list of options appears on the screen.

 Click on the Draft option from this list. The document is displayed in the draft view on
the screen.

ENHANCED VIEW: - View properties are maximized in Enhanced view. This view offers the
best possible display of a document. We need to take following steps to view the document in
enhanced view: -

 Click on the View menu bar option. A list of options appears on the screen.

 In this list click on the Enhanced option. The document is displayed in the enhanced
view.

PAGE SORTER VIEW: - This view is very helpful in case there is more than one page in our
document on a single screen. For viewing the document in the Page Sorter View, undertake the
following steps: -

 Click on the View menu bar option. A list of options appears on the screen.

 In this list, click on the Page Sorter View option. The document is displayed in the page
sorter view.

Ques.5 What is the difference between the Combine and Weld option available in CorelDraw?
Write the steps to weld two objects.
Ans. 5 There are two important options available in Corel Draw. They are, Combine and Weld
the two objects. In Combining Two Objects, we can combine two objects which can then be
used as a single object. And Welding the Objects can also be used to combine two objects. The
only difference is that in combine option the lines distinguishing the two figures in the area of
intersection remains the same whereas in Weld, the lines are removed making the two objects
appear as one.

The following are the steps to Weld the Object: -

 Click on the object to select we want to select and the object gets selected.

 Move to the other object with which we want to overlaps the object.

 Press Shift Key and click on the second object to be welded. Both the objects are
selected.

 Now click on the Weld icon in the Property bar. The objects are welded.

Ques.6 You can enter two types of text with the Text Tool available in the CorelDraw. Name the
two types and explain where a particular type of text is advisable to be created.

Ans. 6 The following are the two types of Text Tools available in Corel Draw: -

i. Artistic Text

ii. Paragraph Text

Artistic Text: - When we have to enter small amount of text, then it is advisable to create an
Artistic Text. This is because Artistic Text is artistically versatile and easy to work with and
therefore allows us to add a variety of special effects to the text and transform it in a number of
ways. We just have to click at the point where we want to insert the text and start typing. Artistic
text is more often used for typing single lines of the text for example, titles, headings etc. It is
also used to add special effects such as drop caps, etc. to the text.

Paragraph Text: - Paragraph Text is used in case of text-intensive projects. For example,
certain ads, brochures etc. require large blocks of text to be added. In such cases, the Paragraph
text is more appropriate than the Artistic text. In a Paragraph form of text, the text is created in
frames and you can use various paragraph formatting features like bulleted lists, tabs and indents,
drop caps, etc.
