Staffing is concerned with employing and developing the employees so that they contribute their
maximum to the organization. Staffing is a part of human resource management where human
beings are treated as asset and human approach is followed in dealing with them. HRM develops
among employees a commitment to words work and the organization. This commitment helps in
increasing the performance of employees. HRM deals withal those aspects of work force which
are taken up in staffing.

RECRUITMENT

Recruitment is the process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating them to apply
for jobs in the organization. When more person apply for jobs then there will be a scope for
recruiting better persons. The job-seekers too, on the other hand, are in search of organizations
offering them employment. Recruitment is linkage activity bringing together those with jobs and
those seeking jobs.

Need for recruitment:


The need for recruitment may be due to the following reasons or situation:

1. Vacancies due to promotions, transfer, retirement, termination, permanent disability,


death and labour turnover.

2. Creation of new vacancies due to the growth, expansion and diversification of business
activities of an enterprise. In addition, new vacancies are possible due to job
specification.

Purpose and importance of Recruitment:

force.

f) Increase organizational and individual effectiveness in the short term and long term.

Recruitment Process

 Internal recruitment: it applies to the people working in the present organization. They
are given a chance to apply for a given vacant position first. This may include a change in
profile on the part of the employee. Internal recruitment is more economical and less time
consuming for the company.

 External recruitment: This has to do with external candidates applying for an available
position. Naturally, the resources spent for the overall selection process are more
comparing to internal recruitment.
