Winnemac Area

The West Ravenswood Corridor Greenway Metra North Line Improvements

View North
The green space between Winona Street and Winnemac Avenue has been cared for by a group of neighbors
who live on the west side of Ravenswood Avenue. Over the years they have made many improvements to this
landscape and continue to maintain it.
Safety Fence
The narrowing of Ravenswood to a one-way street will make traffic flow friendlier and increase the amount (on RR property line)

of green space available for community landscaping. The new green space will also appear as a larger and more
continuous parkway due to the landscape improvements planned between Winona and Foster. The need for
a continuous high retaining wall will be avoided through use of lower, plantable landscape walls to handle the
soil slopes, producing a tiered, garden-like effect. The tiered walls will also allow for the preservation of some Landscape Wall

of the larger existing trees.

This plan also includes converting the head-in parking just north of Winnemac to parallel parking to further
increase the amount of community green space.
