olleen McDonald, an All-WVC selection last season, scored the
game-winning goal on a 25-yard shot to lead the Dallas High
School girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Lake-Lehman on
April 18.
Aside from McDonald’s goal and another by Ashley Dunbar in the
17th minute, Dallas did not mount a consistent attack. But Lehman
(2-2-2 division 1-B) did.
Senior Sarah Bray, Lehman’s leading returning scoring threat, and
quick-footed freshman Shoshana Mahoney helped create some solid
offensive chances throughout.
Mahoney tied the score 1-1 early in the second half. Midfielder Nik-
ki Sutliff started the scoring play by sending a long pass to Mahoney
who worked the right side of the penalty area and fired a grounder
that banged off the base of the left post and ricocheted in.
Mahoney left the game with a toe injury and Bray received a yellow
card with 5:12 remaining and had to sit the final five minutes.
