Potential Health Effects
Primary Routes of Entry Inhalation
Short Term Exposure Inhalation of fine particulates may cause mild irritation of the respiratory
tract. May cause mild transient eye irritation.
Long Term Exposure Repeated and prolonged inhalation of dust in excess of respirable dust
levels may lead to a benign pneumoconiosis (dust in the lungs). This
condition may cause some impairment of lung function which may be
reversible with reduced exposure.

Storage Store in dry, well-ventilated area. Keep away from heat and sources of
ignition.
Handling Avoid generating dust. Use safety glasses.
Industrial hygiene Use adequate ventilation to keep vapour concentrations below applicable
standard.
Residual monomers Trace amounts of monomers may be released during use of this material.
Personal protection Approved dust respirator. Where contact with eyes or skin is likely, wear
suitable protection.
Ventilation protection There should be enough fresh air flowing past the user to keep the dust
levels below 10 mg/M3 total and 5 mg/M3 respirable (Nuisance dust TLV -
8-hr. time weighted average) (CaCO3)
Stability Stable
Materials to avoid For calcium carbonate, avoid fluorine and magnesium.
Conditions to avoid None under normal conditions.
Hazardous decomposition products CO, CO2, HCN, Normal hydrocarbon combustion products expected.
