Teaching and Learning Sequence

Introduction/Anticipatory Set

• The teacher will introduce the class to the idea of adjectives and what that word

means in English.

• The students will recite back Spanish adjectives to the teacher.

Lesson Development –

• The teacher will open up PowerPoint and begin with the first slide, asking in Spanish

what they think each picture means. There are a series of photos that have a particular

meaning to the teacher, but the students might have a different meaning. Students will

go through and try to determine what Spanish adjective is depicted by each slide.

• The teacher will go through each slide asking the meaning and then clicking on the

slide, which reveals to which picture the Spanish adjective corresponds.

• The teacher will go through the slide show two or three times.
• The teacher will then bring out a stack of magazines and have students pair up and

find pictures that show various adjectives. They will affix a meaning to each with a

small piece of paper and these will be displayed throughout the room or on a word

wall.

Closure Outline

• The teacher will review the words in the slideshow and then give a brief quiz with

Spanish adjectives listed and having students define each word in English.

Homework

Students will be assigned a worksheet that reinforces the instruction from the classroom

with various pictures from the slideshow, and the students must give their meanings in

Spanish and English.

Assessment

Formative

A simple review will be conducted during the course of the slideshow with the teacher

asking various students what the meanings of words are after at least one run through of

the slideshow has taken place.

Summative

Students will be given a quiz where they will identify the English meaning of a Spanish

adjective.
