NetHope ICT Skill Training in India

Background

NetHope aims to help its members providing access to the best information and communication
technology and practices when serving people in the developing world. To ensure this, India Chapter
recently organised ICT Skill Training, in India, with support of Anudip Foundation. The Advanced
Training Project focussed on enhancing the skills of member organisations to improve the
productivity in performing routine works more efficiently. 

Training is conducted in partnership with TAI InfoTech(based in India and engaged in providing
corporate training to various organisation since last 12 years) in five cities in India (Delhi,
Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Lucknow) based on survey conducted with members in
India.

Summary

Five-day training on ‘Improving your Information Technology Skills’ was organised from 22 nd – 27th,
April 2011 in Delhi. Over 100 participants from the staff members of NetHope member organizations
including International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Save the Children,
Oxfam, Win Rock et al and their implementation partner organizations had attended the
training. It was observed that most of the participants had basic information and working knowledge
of Microsoft Office 2007 package and the training further provided advanced understanding on
Microsoft Office. Most of the participants viewed it as a great opportunity to increase their learning
on solving common technology. The training covered in depth components of MS Word, MS Excel
and MS project.

Certification:
NetHope also awarded certificates to the
participants in completion of the training.

MS word and MS Excel have become part


of daily life. These are two essential tools
required to conduct most of the regular
tasks in any workplace. Be it programs or
finance, spreadsheets and word are
commonly used.

With the growing needs on ICT, training on


advance elements of Microsoft plays a key
role in providing best economic solutions
and scaling up business and technological answers to pressing problems in areas of Health,
education, agriculture etc. It is important to understand the technological processes clearly in depth
to utilise the benefits.

Coordinator from Save the Children expressed gratitude and appreciated the efforts of NetHope to
have organised the training. He further discussed the need of training in several states of the
country.

Closing Comments:

NetHope India Chapter would like to express deep gratitude to donors Dell Computers for their
support which makes this training possible. The continual support would help in planning more
sessions in the coming years to reach wider audience and participants.
