Camera Care
1 . T h i s c a m e r a i s n o t w a t e r p r o o fa n d c a n n o t b e u s e d i n r a i n o r

ServiceCenter. Wipe off any water dropletswith a dry cloth. lf the
camerahas been exposedto saltyair, wipe with a well-wrungdamp
cloth.
2. Do not leavethe camerain placesproneto excessiveheatsuch as in
a c a r o n a s u n n y d a y . E x c e s s i v eh e a t c a n c a u s e t h e c a m e r a t o
malfunction.
3 . T h e c a m e r a c o n t a i n s h i g h - v o l t a g ec i r c u i t r y .N e v e r a t t e m p tt o
disassemble the camerayourself.
4. Use only a blowerbrushto removeany dust on the lens or in the film
compartment.Do not use a cleanercontainingan organicsolventto
cleanthe camerabody or lens.For stubborndirt,consultyour nearest
CanonServiceCenter.
5. lf the camera is not to be used for an extendedperiod,removethe
battery.Storethe camerain a well-ventilated, cool,dry place.During
the storageperiod,releasethe shuttera few timesonce in a while.
6 . A v o i d s t o r i n gt h e c a m e r a i n a l a b o r a t o r yc, a b i n e t ,e t c . , w h e r e
corrosivechemicalsare present.
7. lf the camera has not been used for an extended period or if the
camera is to be used for an importantevent, check all the camera
operations yourselfor take it to the nearestCanonServiceCenter.

LCD Panel
Over time, the camera'sLCD panel indicationsmay become light and
difficultto read.lf this happens,have it replaced(at cost)by your nearest
CanonServiceCenter.
At low temperatures, the displayresponseof the LCD panelmay become
s l o w e r .A n d a t h i g h t e m p e r a t u r e st ,h e d i s p l a ym a y b l a c k e n .I n e i t h e r
case,the displaywill returnto normalat roomtemperature.
HandlingPrecautions

Lithium Battery
The camera operateson one 2CR5 lithiumbattery.Check the battery
levelin the followingcases:
1. After replacingthe battery.
2. Afterthe camera has not been used for an extendedperiod.
3. The shutterdoes not release.
4. The camerais beingusedin a low{emperature environment.
5. Also notethe following:
. Before installingthe battery,wipe the batterycontactsto remove
f i n g e r p r i n t sa n d d i r t . T h i s i s t o p r e v e n tf a u l t y c o n n e c t i o n sa n d
corrosion.
. Never disassembleor rechargethe battery.Also, never store the
b a t t e r y i n h i g h - t e m p e r a t u r ep l a c e s o r s h o r t c i r c u i t t h e b a t t e r y
contactsor toss the batteryinto a fire.
. Althoughthe battery works well under low temperatures,battery
performancemay sufferslightlyat freezingtemperatures. In such a
case, keep a spare batterywarm in a pocket,etc., and use and
warm the batteriesalternatelv.

Low Battery Power


When only the c: symbolblinkson the LCD panel,a picturecan stillbe
taken at the properexposure.However,there may not be enoughbattery
powerto advanceand rewindthe film automatically.Replacewith a new
battery.

Be careful not to get the lens surface


and electronic contacts scratched.
After detachingthe lens, attach the
rear lens cap or put down the lens
with the rear end up.

The EOS camera'sshutterbuttonoperatesin two steps:Pressit halfway
or all the wav.

Whenit is pressedhalfway:
