Nikola Marinov, Dechko Uzonov and Ilia Beshkov

A- What they have in common:

They are all famous and respected painters in their country. They mostly used watercolour
technique. The difference among them is that Dechko Uzonov and Ilia Beshkov were Nikola
Marinov’ students in the National Academy of Arts in Sofia.

B- The difference among their paintings.

 All their beautiful paintings have one thing in common: we can observe a desire in getting
different results to catch reality. Dechko Uzunov has definitly got a more abstract style.

 Ilia Beskov has a satiric style: his paintings sometimes seem to be caricatures of a specific
society of the time. He mainly used a mixed tecnique of China ink and watercolour.

 Nikola Marinov mostly painted women. His paintings are soft, full of harmony and beauty.
He proves he is a master in watercolour and pastel tecnique. No doubt he was a great
painter.

 2- The pieces of art we liked the most belong to Nikola Marinov’s.

3- If I were in an auction sale, I would ask my parents to buy Nikola Marinov’s paintings. I
think his paintings show a great sensibility towards humankind and his tenderness especially
to women and children.

Evaluation
Yes, I do. They are soft, so clear and, at the same time, realistic. I think that their paintings
are an inspiration for present and future painters.

Conclusion
I don’t consider myself a painter, but I wish I could go on with this wonderful experience
and have the chance to paint again and again with my teacher by my side, helping,
correcting and encouraging me.

No, I had never painted watercolour in my life and this was a fantastic experience. I really
enjoyed being part of this project.
