Vedha
No marriage should be brought about between a boy and girl whose Janma Nakshatras belong to the same pair
below:
Aswini & Jyestha Bharani & Anuradha  Krittika & Visakha
Rohini & Swati  Arudra & Sravana  Punarvasu & Uttarashadha
Pusyami & Poorvashadha Aslesha & Mula  Makha (Magha) & Revati
Purva & Uttarabhadra Uttara & Purvabhadra  Hasta & Satabhisha
Mrigasira & Dhanistha

Rajju*
This indicates the strength or duration of married life and therefore it merits special attention. The 27 constellations have
been grouped into five types of Rajju.
Padarajju Aswini, Aslesha, Makha, Jyestha, Mula, Revati.
Katirajju Bharani, Pushyami, Purva, Anuradha, Poorvashadha, Uttarabhadra.
Udararajju Krittika, Punarvasu, Uttara, Visakha, Uttarashadha, Poorvabhadra
Kantharajju Rohini, Arudra, Hasta, Swati, Sravana, and Satabhisha.
Sirarajju Dhanistha, Chitta and Mrigasira.

The Janma Nakshatras of the couple should not fall in the same Rajju. If they fall in Sira (head) husband's death is likely;
if in Kantha (neck) the wife may die; if in Udara (stomach) the children may die; if in Kati (waist) poverty may ensue; and if
in Pada (foot) the couple may be always wandering. Hence, it is desirable that the boy and the girl have constellations
belonging to different rajjus or groups for safety in household life.

Deals with the psychological dispositions of the couple, their individual mental attitudes and their affection for each other. Is very
important in determining compatibility for marriage. When the lords of the janma rashis of the bride and bridegroom are friends, the
Rashi-adipati is said to obtain full strength. When one is a friend and the other is neutral, it is passable or a right, and when both are
neutral, Rashi-adipati is considered very ordinary. When both are enemies, Rashi-adipati does not exist.

Yoni*
If both partners have male nakshatras there will be many fights for supremacy.

 Next best is between Deva-Manushya and Manushya-Rakshasa. This gets a score of 2 out of 4 points.
 Last and worst combination is Deva-Rakshasa which gets a score of 0 out of 4 points.

Deva Ganams are usually people with the following nakshatras : Punarvasu, Pushyami, Swati, Hastha, Sravana, Revathi, Anuradha,
Mrigasira, and Aswini.

Manusha Ganams are usually the following nakshatras : Rohini, Purva, Purvashadha, Purvabhadrapad, Bharani, Arudra, Uttara
Phalguni, Uttarashadha, Uttarabhadrapad.

Dosha (Tara or Dinam kuta)*

This is also called Dina Kuta. Imagine the 27 stars to be in a circle. Identify the star of the Girl. From here count the star of the Boy.
Divide the number by 9. If the remainder is 2, 4, 6, 8 or 0 it is considered as good. . If the remainder is 3 or 5 or 7 it is said to be malefic.

Mahendra
This refers to happiness together. The constellation of the boy counted from that of the girl should be the 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th,
19th, 22nd or 25th. This combination promotes well being and longevity of the couple.

Stri-Dhirga
The boy's constellation should be beyond the 9th from that of the girl and in some cases 7 nakshatras are acceptable. For example
Mrigasira is beyond 9 nakshatras from Dhanistha, so agreement is there.
Exception:      This is may be overlooked if the Rashi Kuta and Graha Maitri are a match
Rashi or Bhakut kuta*
Aries Taurus Gemini Cancer Leo Virgo
Libra Scorpio Sagittarius Capricorn Aquarius Pisces
This compatibility takes into consideration the relative positions of Birth signs. If the signs are in boy/gal >> 2/12, 5/9 0r 6/8 no point is
given otherwise full 7 points are allotted.
If the Rashi of the boy happens to be the 2nd house from that of the girl, and if the Rashi of the girl happens to be the 12th house from
that of the boy, all kinds of evil, unwanted results will follow. But if the Rashi of the boy falls within the 12th from the girl's or the Rashi is
the 2nd from that of the boy's, it implies longevity for the couple.

Special Considerations
The previous sections dealt with the importance of the various Kutas and how the consideration of each Kuta enables us to appreciate
the harmony or discord likely to prevail between intending marriage partners. Outlined below are certain contingencies (exceptions)
arising by virtue of common Janma Rashi, common birth star and the absence of certain Kutas. There are some commonly acceptable
exceptions, however these may differ with individual astrologers.
1. The absence of Stri Dhirga may be ignored if Rashi Kuta and Graha Maitri are present.
2. If the Rashi of the girl is odd, the 6th and 8th  Rashis from hers are friendly. If the Rashi of the girl is even the 2nd and 12th
from hers become friendly. The problems or evil due to the birth or the bride in a Rakshasa Gana star may be ignored with
Janma Rashi being 2nd and 12th, 9th and 5th, or 6th and 8th, the lords of the Rashis are then the same or are mutual friends.
3. Though Graha Maitri is important, it need not be considered if the couple have their Janma Rashis disposed in 1 and 7 from
each other.
4. Rajju Kuta need not be considered in case Graha Maitri, Rashi, Dina and Mahendra Kutas are present.
5. The evil due to Nadi Kuta can be ignored subject to the following conditions:
1. the Rashi and the Rajju Kuta prevail
2. the same planet is lord of the Janma Rashis of both the male and the female
3. the lords of the Janma Rashis of the couple are friends.
