SEMESTER 2, SESSION (2010-2011)

7TH FEBUARY 2011.
INTRODUCTION

As the name implies, SketchUp lets you create 3-D artwork quickly.
Here’s a short list of the jobs SketchUp does well:

• Create models of buildings, furniture, and other everyday objects.

• Easily add colours and textures.

• Create landscaping around buildings.

• Add shadow effects based on geographic location, time, and date.

• Place models in a specific location on the Google Earth map.

• Develop 3-D models from 2-D photographs or drawings.

You can save your model as a JPEG or PNG file and edit it in Photoshop.
You can also save your models in the .kmz file format that lets you place
models in Google Earth.

The first task is to capture the real world object in Close Range Camera,
which is the C04 Building.

Secondly, 3D Modeling using Google SketchUp

Thirdly, Texture Mapping

Creating the building in Google SketchUp.

Select the Axes tool, click once in a corner of the building
and turn the red axes to align to a side of the building and
click, then align the green axes and click.
Using a line tool, try to trace the outline of the building by
drawing the line a little bit on the inside because to the
leaning problem.
A surface will be created.

Select the Push/Pull tool and pull up the building high.

Set the Building height. The building is roughly about 7m
and less than 95m in length.
ORGANISING PHOTO OF THE BUILDING

I took a couple of photographs of the building and organise

them using Adobe Photoshop.
I cropping the image reduce the size, free transform to
clean the picture by removing obstructions, and auto
contrast and finally saved the images.

position of the picture imported and drag to the opposite
corner.
Then right-click- Texture – Position. Click and hold to drag
it and position it right in the corner of the model.
