It is Good to Feel Hunger – You are Burning Stored Fat
For many of us the feedback mechanisms that operate within our systems are not programmed correctly. I have known March 1 - Oct. 31 Sat 5:00 pm
people that are triggered to eat more when they begin to feel full. Others are pushed to eat when they are stressed. Many
will eat every time they feel a tiny hunger pang. In nature do you ever see an obese animal? No, only when we are feeding

them. So where have we gone wrong? Children’s Sunday School & Bible Study 10:00 am
Most of it is from our past experience. Listen to some stories. If they sound familiar, you will be able to correct this issue for
yourself and your children. Sr. Pastor, Rev. Paul Schneider/Ass’t. Pastor for Youth, David Solum
Last week I was examining an eight month old child. Every time this kid cried, mom shoved a bottle in this mouth. This 9407 90th Avenue • Mecosta, MI • Phone: Church Office • 972-7891
child was learning to eat something every time something unpleasant happened. A crying child should be fed only if it is truly
feeding time.
I know a man who has struggled with his weight his whole life. At Over-Eaters Anonymous he recalled an event from child
hood (age 4-5) in which his aunt had baked a three pound potato and he had eaten the whole thing. She and his mother

bragged about this for weeks. He often sought recognition and comfort by eating starchy foods. 19994 30th Ave. (M-66 @ 20 Mile Rd.) Barryton, Michigan
Often people in my age group belong to the clean plate club. My parents lived through the great depression and truly did
experience starvation. They did not waste food, and they always made us clean our plate at every meal. If we did clean our Please join us for our
plate, we got dessert. I remember feeling stuffed, but would continue to eat to get the sweet dessert.
Frequently, I hear parents bribing their children with food. “If you are good, we will get ice cream”. Or “If you are good,
we will go to McDonalds”. Or “If you are good, we will get Pizza”. But, I have never heard, “If you are good, we will get an

apple”.
Television puts us into an Alpha Brain Wave State. This is much like a light hypnotic trance. Advertisers
with Evangelist & Mrs. Doug Lowery
know this and use it to program us to do things we might not normally do. Lots of advertising is about
food. Remember, “Where’s the Beef”? That ad has not been on TV for over 20 years and yet we are

often still affected by it.
So, many of us have been programmed to eat for reasons other than biological hunger. We need to Sunday Bible School ...............10:00 am
search our past for these kinds of old out-dated programs. Then, in a quiet place, imagine going back
in time before the programs happened and then play them forward in a different way. When we do Sunday Worship Service .........11:00 am
this, our brain now has a new point of reference from which it can operate. Now, when you are full,
you will not hear your mother’s voice in your head telling you to “clean your plate”, and you can leave Sunday Evening Service .......... 6:00 pm
food without feeling guilt. Have patience, do this a few times and see the results.
Watch what you say to your kids and grandkids. Limit TV and avoid the advertising. Thursday Bible Study .............. 7:00 pm
