Standards of IC3 Training Program.

Overview:

Most of the staff in the college of education appears to be having a shortage in the basic

technical skills and background to do their job in their different positions in the college with the

required level of quality and efficiency. This research will study this case and expose the need

for a training program and raising the awareness of the importance of having such skills for such

target. Thus, I suggest the idea of giving the target community a structured background

knowledge and training in the basic technical skills required for dealing with computer

components and applications that are listed in the IC3 training program to help the target

handling their job in a better efficiency.

This quality development of the staff should focus on: raising the awareness of the importance

of having such technical skills, providing the target community with the required technical

background, training the target on the pointed technical skills, assessing the outcome of the

development program.

Personnel:

The training program will involve a number of people as the following:

College Administration: to give the permeation and to spread the decision of setting up the

development program among the targeted community and take care of any administration issues.

College Technicians: to help setting up the labs and computers and prepare them with the

required components and applications needed for the program.

College and departments coordinators: to help managing training sessions to fit schedules of all

the trainees.

Trainees: Tutors (Doctors & Teachers) and Administration Staff, who will be the targeted

learners of the development program.

3

Trainer: as a subject matter expert to deliver the content of the training programs and lead the

training sessions.

Instructional design assistant: to help the trainer designing and developing the content and

resources needed in the program.

Organizers: to improve the training service by troubleshooting and handling any obstacles appear

during the training.

Curriculum/training:

By the end of the training program the trainees will be able to:

Address all parts of computer system software and hardware in a proper way.

Define the process of computer system functioning in the right way.

Use the computer system components in a good way.

Use basic system applications and programs in an effective way.

Troubleshoot basic system technical problems easily.

Realize the importance of having technical know ledges and skills for his career development.

After assessing the prior knowledge and skills of the target learners, justifying the groups and

modifying the content to fit with them, the program takes a good bedagogy of giving the

theoretical background and information part in the shape of lectures integrated with presentation

displays and discussion sessions. The practical part will be handled in a practical application

sessions of the concepts and theoretical information has been pointed. Finally, the program will

end by evaluation of the effectiveness level of the training program.

4

This development will require a set of resources and equipment to be provided, such as:

computer labs, computer repairing toolbox and devices. Computer maintenance tools both

hardware and software components, networking set, internet service, office applications on the

computers and well designed course materials and resources.

Environment:

The current environment in the college is in a need for improvement to fit the application of

the training program. The college in a shortage of the suitable labs qualified to hold the training

sessions and this requires some technical preparation of the aspects pointed in the training

requirements mentioned last paragraph. Also, it is important to point out that most of the target

community and its administration are allergic to technology and prefer to stick to the traditional

way of teaching and doing their duties in their jobs. That why it is important it is important to

convince the college administration first to approve the training program decision and then raise

the awareness of technical knowledge and skills importance among the college staff.

And it is important also to spread the culture of acceptance of sharing and support among the

whole community in all aspects related to the program.

Tool for Assessment:

The application of the development program of training will require some tools of different

purposes to serve as the following:

First: Personnel area:

Need assessment Tools: a list to define the size of the targeted community members.

Pre-assessment Tools: chick list with the names and data about trainees and there background

and levels to be organized in homogenous sections.

Formative Evaluation Tools: chick list for attendance.

5

Summative Evaluation Tools: chick list of attendance or drop outs.

Second: Training and content area:

Need assessment Tools: interviews with staff to find if there is a need for the training.

Pre-assessment Tools: pre-test to categorize trainees into levels and help identify the training

content area and levels of sections.

Formative Evaluation Tools: performance observation list for trainees, quizzes and assignments.

Summative Evaluation Tools: trainees learning pos-test, user satisfaction evaluation online

survey and expert evaluation structured interview of the program.

Third: Environment area:

Need assessment Tools: chick list of the technical and environmental requirements needed for

the training program.

Pre-assessment Tools: chick list of the availability of every session needs of technical and

environmental requirements.

Formative Evaluation Tools: short survey to assess if there is any new arising need for technical

support or tools or any shortage in the environmental side.

Summative Evaluation Tools: chick list for the whole environment after finishing the program to

insure that everything is in its place and to collect back and organize.
