FLEET FOXES
MAY 10TH @ STUBBS
When Seattle’s Fleet Foxes played outdoors in the
drunken Texas sun at South By Southwest earlier
this year, it was impossible not to be stirred by their
harmonies, that were so sweet they sounded holy.
Hailing from Seattle, The Fleet Foxes hail influence from
Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and The Beach Boys to produce
a harmonious fluid musical experience. Missing these
guys play live would be something of shame consider-
ing Austin is one of their favorite venues to play at.
Fleet Foxes are sitting on two successful records and
multiple singles that coax the listener in an entirely
different musical experience.

Q: What is your favorite thing about the bar?

I love the variety of music we play in this bar. You
never know who is going to walk through the
door.  There are people from all walks of life and
ages that come to the Triple Crown.
Q: What is the best night to come in and why?
Every night is a good night to come out!  We have
live music every day and night.  It starts at happy
hour, which is at 6 pm  The bands work for tips and
you can get wells and drafts for $1.50! We also have
$2 you call its on Sunday through Tuesdays from
9 until 11.  I like to check our live music calendar
daily to see what genre of music we will be having.
It’s always a pleasant surprise!
Q: If someone were to talk dirty to you in a foreign
language from across the bar, you’d want it to be…
Russian.  I don’t know why, but it’s very sexy!
Q: If a customer was being rude and obnoxious, you
would probably:
Forget the booze altogether and kill ‘em with kind-
ness as always.  If all else fails, hose ‘em down.  I
have been known to do that from time to time.
Q: If you became a famous rapper, your name would be?
That’s funny because my band’s name is Debatron.
It’s a nickname I got from a patron years ago.  I
always thought it could be a rapper name.  My
alternate would be Debalicious.  That’s another
nickname I got working here.

Q: Favorite Drink?
Lemon Drops- yummy! I love them and everyone
likes to order them from me.  Bloody Mary as well,
they are my personal favorites.

CABLESTOCK
KICKS SUMMER OFF RIGHT
words: jasmine vallejo photos: cablestock

Mixing talented athletes with hot babes and

live music performances is what Cablestock
is best known for. Texas Ski Ranch, an action
and water sports facility, is the place to spend
time wakeboarding, tanning, skateboarding,
and learning about other sports. If you want
to kick off your summer right, (and see hotties
in swimwear) this is an event you can’t afford
to miss out on. Study Breaks sat down with Blake
Jess, TSR/Cablestock Manager to get the scoop on
the biggest event before summer.

What is Cablestock?
Cable Stock is TSR’s annual kick-off to sum-
mer event.  With Wahoo’s Fish Tacos Bar and
Grill, live music, wakeboarding and wake skat-
ing competitions, bikini contests, and plenty
of sun, there is truly something for everyone!
Is there a price to enter?
That varies on the day, music acts and if you
are competing or just riding for fun. Anywhere
from $5 for the public to $100 for the pros.
What events are going on at Cablestock?
The weekend’s lineup includes wakeboarding
and wake skating competitions, live music,

Ben Steffy makes his apartment his own domain, which is the best
part about living on his own. “I get to make the rules. The best part
about not living with my parents is knowing that my apartment is

rated his room. Ben gives the insight on keeping memories from
childhood and making your room a comfortable place for yourself.
