NEW ZEALAND: IMPORTANT QUESTIONS ANSWERED

What's the climate like?

New Zealand's seasons are the reverse of those in the Northern Hemisphere.
This means that the warmest months are December, January and February, while
the coldest are June, July and August. Winters tend to be short in New Zealand,
with signs of spring showing up before the official winter is over.

What do I wear?

Life in New Zealand is relaxed, so fashionable casual clothes are acceptable at

most restaurants and nightspots, particularly in resorts and regional towns. Men are
generally not expected to wear formal suits and ties except in a few of the top bars
and restaurants in the major cities.

Summers are usually warm, so you can go out in the evenings without a jacket
in coastal areas. It's a good idea to bring along a light jacket or jersey in case it
gets cooler or you want to visit the high country.

When is the best time to visit New Zealand?

Anytime! With only 10° difference between winter and summer temperatures
over most of the country, New Zealand is the perfect year-round destination. You
will find snow on the mountains in winter and great skiing, equal to anywhere in the
world, particularly in the South Island. In summer there is lots of sunshine, and
activities in and around the water will be the order of the day.
