The glory of Nama Sankirtan
kulam tharum, selvam thandidum, adiyãr paduthuyar ãyinavellãm
nilantharam seiyyum, nILvisumbaruLum, aruLodu perunilam aLikkum
valantharum matrum thandidum pertra thãyinum ãyina seyyum
nalam tharum sollai nãn kandukonden 'Nãrãyana' enum Nãmam!
1.1.9 Periya Thirumozhi (Thirumangai Azhwar)
One word will bestow you with good family, wealth; solve all your
problems, take you to great heights, bestow you with Vaikunta and confer
on you all other good things. It will take care of you more than any mother.
I realized that, the word is nothing but the Name “Narayana” !
Manu Smriti
SaptakOti mahamantra: chitta vibrama kãraka: | Eka Eva varO mantra: sri
rãmEtyaksharãdvayam ||
Seven crores of mantras confuse the mind. It is only the two-syllable
Mantra ‘Rama’ that elevates it.
Chyavana Smriti
Sruti smriti purãnEshu rãmanãma samIritam | tannãma kirtanam bhuya: tãpatraya
vinãshanam ||
All the Vedas, ‘Smrithi’and ‘Puranas’ decree that only Rama Nama Kirtan
can destroy the three types sufferings in this worldly existence.
Srimad Bhagavatam
When one utters the Name of Hari even without conscious effort on his
part, whilst falling, stumbling or even after sneezing, he is absolved of all
his sins. (12:12:46)
The Learned say that when one utters the Divine Name of the Lord in the
pretext of addressing someone, or as a praise or mockery, he
undoubtedly attains ‘Moksha’ – the Supreme Abode of the Lord.
(6:2:14)
That supreme good which could be attained by the performance of
meditation in Kruta Yuga, sacrifices in Treta Yuga and Puja in Dwapara
Yuga can verily be attained, in Kali Yuga, by the mere Hari Nama
Sankirtan! (12:3:52)
In this Age, all of us have sinned, like Ajamila – Only the Divine Name ‘Narayana’
is the cure for us. All of us are fallen like Ahalya. Only the Divine Name ‘Rama’
is our savior!
Naradeya Purana
harer nãma harer nãma harer nãmaiva kEvalam|
kalau nãstyEva nãstyEva nãstyEva gatir anyatã ||
But for the Divine Name ‘Hari’ and ‘Hari’ alone, there is no way out in this
Kali Yuga.
Kali Santarana Upanishad
At the end of Dwapara Yuga, Narada, after traveling around the world,
approached Lord Brahma and asked him, “How may I overcome the evil
effects of Kali Yuga?”
Lord Brahma said: “You have asked me an excellent question. I shall reveal to
you the secret of all the Vedas by which you will cross over the ‘samsara’ (ocean
of life) filled with the bad effects of the Kali Yuga. This secret must be preserved
and protected.”
Said Lord Brahma, 'By merely uttering the names of the Primeval ‘Purusha’, who
is Bhagavan Narayana, one is freed from the clutches of Kali."
Narada asked further, “What are those names of Narayana?"
“HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE |
HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE ||”
Lord Brahma said, “This collection of the sixteen Names (of Narayana) destroys
the evils of the Kali Yuga. I don't see any other effective means (of liberation) in
the Vedas.
Narada further asked, ‘O Lord, what are the rules to be observed with reference
to it ?"
Brahma replied, “There are no rules for chanting this Divine Name. Whoever in
a pure or an impure state, utters these always, attains the same world of, or
proximity with, or the same form of, or absorption into the divine.
[ “Hare Rama…” is called the Mahamantra for Kali Yuga because it is
capable of bestowing anything that is sought - right from mundane worldly
comforts to the Supreme good. Be your Sadhana anything; having Nama
Sankirtan as a part of it will facilitate reaching your goal quickly by removing
the ‘kali’ in it.]
“I prostrate to the Lord Hari, singing whose Name obliterates all sins
and surrendering unto whom liberates us from all worldly sorrows.”
