ABOUT US
P.R. College of Nursing was established in the year 2005, under “Sri Veerabhadra Swamy
Educational trust” as a state of art facility with the concept of providing world class health care
education for women and believe in excellence in Nursing Education will contribute, to quality
care in health care delivery System.
Health care is an important sector in the vision of developing countries like India. Nurses play
a vital role in the national health services. Educational preparation of nurses is essential for the
quality health care services. Advancement in the science and technology leads to greater
demand for quality care. Hence nursing education requires excellence in knowledge and skill.
Ample opportunities are provided for the students to inhabit all-round development in
academic as well as co-curricular activities. They are encouraged for their best performances
by awarding certificates, medals, cups and prizes.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Offered : Basic B.Sc Nursing
Duration : 4 years + 6 month Internship
Eligibility Criteria for Admission:
A candidate seeking admission should have

 Passed the two years pre – University examination or plus 2 or equivalent as recognized
by Rajiv Gandhi University Health Science, with science subjects, viz, physics,
chemistry and biology.
 Obtained 45% of the total marks in science subjects and English of the qualifying
examination, if belonging to a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe (from Karnataka)
should have obtained not less than 40% of the total marks in science subjects of the
qualifying examination.
 Completed 17 years to 35 years of age at the time of admission or will complete this
age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
 Only female candidates are admitted.
 Admission starts soon after results publication.
 Academic Year commences from mid September.

A request for the prospectus and application form can be made to the Principal, along with the
D.D for Rs. 500/- drawn in favor of the Principal, P.R. College of Nursing The duly filled in
application form with following documents (Photostat copy ) should be sent.

Eco friendly, Lustrous Green campus, Beautiful and Spacious campus with serene atmosphere ,
are versatile landmarks of college.

CLASS ROOM (P.NO: 50)


Students are provided with well ventilated, spacious class rooms equipped with modern
Audiovisual Aids. The classes and students are monitored by principal through CC TV.
LABORATORIES
Nursing Arts lab (P.NO: 22,28)
The Fundamentals of Nursing lab comprises of all needed articles, equipment, monitors,
dummies, simulators and CPR manikin to develop skill in the nursing procedures and enhance
the basic knowledge in dealing with the patients.
Anatomy lab (P.NO: 68,72)
Knowledge of normal human structure and function gives the basic foundation to learn about
the diseased organ. Models, charts, specimens, articulated and disarticulated human bones are
available for the learning purpose.
Nutrition lab (P.NO: 90,93)
It is well furnished with all the kitchen necessities, fine crockery are available for students to
plan a well balanced diet and therapeutic diet and to practice cookery so that they can
demonstrate to the patient coming to hospital as well in the community.
Microbiology lab (P.NO: 43)
The labs are equipped with centrifuge, microscopes and other needed articles to perform few
basic lab tests for practical purposes.
Maternity and Child Health lab (P.NO: 60, 61)
Mother and child care always bind together. Mother and Child care nursing is practiced in this
lab by using models, dummies and charts highlighting normal and abnormal labor process and
to practice later in the hospital.

Community Health Nursing lab (P.NO: 63, 84)


The practical skill is developed not only in the hospital but also in the community setting. It is
well planned in the lab with needed articles to gain knowledge related to preventive, promotive
and curative services in the community.

Computer lab
Students are facilitated with adequate computers with expert in the computer field to deal with
basics in computer. Students collect information through internet facility to widen their
knowledge and supplement their academics.
Library (P.NO: 98)
A Spacious and well ventilated library with comfortable seating arrangements is available, with
latest collection of Books, Periodicals, Helinet facilities, recent educational CD’S, internet
facility and Xeroxing.
Auditorium (P.NO: 138)
The college has a very spacious multipurpose hall arranged with inbuilt speakers and collar
mikes, Slide and LCD projectors. Workshops, Seminars, Symposium, Scientific sessions,
Competitions, Exhibitions, Debates, Student – Teacher meetings and college functions are
conducted to encourage the students to bring out their potentials and enrich their knowledge .

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Correlation of Theory and Practice is the main principle followed in Nursing Education to
inculcate theoretical knowledge. Highly qualified professors and lecturers are there for
imparting knowledge to the students by modern teaching methodology, using technology like
OHP, LCD, Manikins and Simulators. To foster the good academic, the students are involved
in conducting and attending the Scientific sessions, Conferences, Seminars and Workshops
conducted by our college and other colleges.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Lamp lighting ceremony (P.NO: (660,667)

After the probationary period, the Fresher take Nightingales Pledge after lighting their
Lamps in the presence of the Faculty and Parents. This day is celebrated in a grand manner
with elegance and spirit.

International Nurses Day

In Memory of Ms. Florence Nightingale, the founder of Modern Nursing, her Birthday
is celebrated in grand manner on May 12 every year. The Faculty rededicate themselves by
Lighting the Lamps and taking her Pledge.
Scientific Programmes (P.NO: 138)

The Students conduct scientific sessions on various topics using Power Point
presentations in the form of Symposiums, Panel Discussion, Seminars and Group Discussion
once in a month. Thus the Students are given opportunity to bring out their potentials and build
up teaching Administrative skills.
Exhibition

Our College conducts exhibition every year based on a Theme. It provides


opportunities to the students to bring out creativity and talents in making charts, posters and
models. Prizes and certificates are awarded for the best performance.
Workshops and Conference

In order to update the knowledge on various dimensions in Nursing, the college


conducts Workshops and Conferences. The Students and Faculty are sponsored to attend
workshops, Conferences conducted by the other colleges and university at National and
International level.
Awareness Programmes
To create Health awareness among nursing students and public, the students are
involved and participate in campaigns conducted by the Government and NGOS and observe
the world days like Blood Donation, Pulse Polio, Cancer day, tuberculosis day, HIV day,
Diabetes day etc…..

CLINICAL FACILITIES (P.NO: 24)


As hospitals are the integral part of nursing education. Our students get efficient clinical
experience from three leading multi – specialty hospital with well equipped critical care set
up. Hospital provides library with chosen books on nursing to have clinical practice and to
update the knowledge. They are exposed to expanded practices and new roles, to
implement advanced Nursing skills and to be equipped with knowledge on practical aspect.
• ESI HOSPITAL (350 bedded) , Langford town, Bangalore.
• RE PUBLIC HOSPITAL (100 bedded) , Basaveshwara nagar, Bangalore.

• SPANDANA HOSPITAL (250 bedded ) Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore.
• SHANBHAG HOSPITAL (100 bedded) Basaveshwara nagar, Bangalore
• MATERNITY CENTRES ( Azad Nagar, JJR Nagar, Agrahara, Sirsi ) in Bangalore.

COMMUNITY (P.NO 48)

We provide community health experience in Rural at Sumanahalli and Urban at


Mahalakshmipuram at Bangalore. The students do survey in the area to identify the common
problem prevailing in the particular area and plan their programmes accordingly along with
Primary Health Centre. They attend Antenatal clinic, Under-five clinic, Mortality - Morbidity
clinic, School health programme and create awareness about prevention of illness by
conducting Health education and promotion of health by conducting Cooking demonstrations,
Puppet shows, Dramas and Role plays. They visit leprosy centre and AIDS centre in
sumanahalli where they can learn more about rehabilitation and restoration of health.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
COLLEGE DAY (P.NO: 469,474)
The College celebrates its annual day in a special way with full spirit and enthusiasm. That is
the day the staff and students exhibit their talents, use creativity and make the day a colorful
one. On this auspicious day the best performers of curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular
activities are honoured with prizes and certificates.

CULTURAL WEEK (P.NO: 799,800,804)


A cultural event during academic life does contribute to the manifestation of social,
intellectual, physical and mental perfection. These events help students to express their hidden
talents in the cultural activity and provide opportunities to interact with other students.
Students are excellent in performing solo song, solo dance, group dances and competitions like
poem writing, drawing, rangoli, Fancy dress, mehandhi etc. Winners are awarded with
attractive prizes.
SPORTS DAY
Our college celebrates the annual sports events during academic year. All the students are
motivated to participate in all types of indoor and outdoor games, winners are awarded with
trophies and certificates.

HOSTEL FACILITIES (P.NO: 109,140)
Well Hygienic kitchen and dining hall with highly nutritious lacto vegetarian diet prepared by
high-tech technologies. We have separate hostel provision for girls. Hostel is inbuilt in college
campus itself with full time safety and security added with incoming and outgoing phone call
arrangements. Comfortable and spacious, well ventilated, well furnished separate sleeping,
seating and storage facilities with 24 hours power supply by UPS backup. Provision of sick
room with first aid medical care along with emergency ambulatory services at any time.
Students are expected to abide strictly by the rules and regulations of hostel.

OTHER FACILITIES
MEDICAL FACILITIES
The students with health problems are taken care by the warden and the class coordinators. If
needed they are taken to the hospital for further treatment and will be intimated to the parents.

TRANSPORTATION (P.NO: 06, 236)


The college is provided with 50 seater bus for the transportation of students to the community
experience and hospital postings. Maruthi Van is available for official purposes.
