Using A Pressure Cooker to bake cakes:

we bake cakes in electric ovens at home but sometimes the gadget is not available ,in
such case should be not have a cake ?or should we find an alternative ,here is one such
way to use your pressure cooker as an oven to bake a cake.

Heat the cooker on the stove or cooking range. Do not pour water in it, heat it dry. Place
the cooker dish with holes inside the cooker, at the bottom .to place the batter tray over
it .
place the dish with the batter of the cake inside the cooker . Close the lid of the cooker
without the weight. Lower the flame after two or three minutes and put off the flame after
half an
hour.
Do not open the lid ,let it be done. Put a very thin stick through the vent of the lid and
check whether the cake is done or not If the stick contains the cake mixture, then it is not
baked and if the mixture will not stick on to it take it that the cake is ready.open the lid
and remove the tray of the cake let it cool down and then remove the cake from the tray
and serve it .

HOW TO PREPARE A CAKE PAN BEFORE

BAKING
• Always prepare the baking pan and put it aside before you start to mix the batter
ingredients for best results of getting the cake baked well remember certain points
in your mind they are as such,

• all batters must be baked right away after mixing. This is important when making
delicate batters for foam cakes as they can deflateeasily if the batter is not putin
the oven immediately.
• 2)Recipes made by adding baking soda and baking powder also need to be baked
instantly if the batter is made to sit around before baking, you will have a flatened
cake for sure it may also become dense

Ingredients to bake a cake:--

• 2 cups sugar

• 2& 1/2cups all-purpose flour or fine flour(miada)as desired

• 3/4 cup vegetable oil or white butter

• 2 &1/2 flat teaspoons baking powder

• 1 teaspoon vanilla

• 1 cup milk(room temperature)

• 2 table spoon Dry nuts to mix in the cake a handful(optional)

over the high flame with lid closed . Line the cake pans with parchment paper.
Grease the paper and the sides of the pan well.

• Take a large mixing bowl, with an electric mixer, beat sugar and eggs well
together until they slightly thickens for about 1 minute. Add flour, milk, oil,
baking powder, and vanilla and beat for another minute, until the batter is smooth
and creamy. Do not over beat or beat in two direction ,it will get flattened or may
break after been baked. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan

• Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until the topis golden brown and
a toothpick poked into the center of the layer comes out clean.ones.) Loosen the
sides of the cake from the pan with a thin knife,or give it a shake it will come out
then turn out onto a plate and peel off the greased paper. Let it cool down
completely before covering with frosting, if desired. else serve it .

Ingredients :

2 cups flour (maida) (240 gm) 1 3/4 cup sugar-powdered (420 gm) 2/3 cup cocoa powder
(65 gm) 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking (meetha) soda 1 tsp salt 2/3 cup butter, cream
or oil (160 gm) 1 tsp Vanilla Essence 3/4 cup yogurt (150 gm) 1 cup hot water 2 cake
tins, 23cm (9”) round, or 20 cm (8”) square

Method :

Grease and flour the cake tins or line the base with grease proof paper. Sift the flour,
cocoa, baking powder and soda into a mixing bowl.

Add the salt, butter/cream/oil, vanilla and yogurt and beat with a wooden spoon or
electric beater. Add the hot water and continue to beat till smooth and glossy.

Divide the batter into the two tins.

Heat the pressure cooker, covered but without the pressure for 3-4 minutes on high heat,
then place one cake tin in it. Cover again without the pressure and let cook till done
(about 1/2 an hour). Repeat with the other tin.

Please see this link for making cake using Pressure Cooker :

http://www.webindia123.com/cookery/…

Heat the cooker in a stove or cooking range. Do not pour water in it. Place the cooker
dish with holes, at the bottom of the cooker. When the cooker is well heated, place the
dish with the cake batter inside, on top of the cooker dish.
Close the cooker with the lid. Do not put the weight. Lower the flame after 2 or 3
minutes. It can be switched off after half an hour.

Do not open the lid to test whether the cake is done. Put a skewer through the hole of the
weight. If the skewer contains the cake mixture, it is not baked. The mixture will not stick
on to it when the cake is done.

Using Thick Bottomed Big Vessel :

Fill 1/2 of a thick bottomed vessel with clean sand and heat the vessel.

Turn the contents in the vessel to ensure the sand is heated evenly all over. Make a
depression at the middle of the sand.

Pour the cake mixture in a vessel and close tightly with a lid. Place the vessel with the
cake mixture in the depression.

Close the thick bottom vessel. Keep this on a low flame for half an hour.

1. Mix sugar and oil together and stir them pretty hard till the mixture becomes
light and fluffy.
