The project consists of 3 parts: (A) The short story; (B) Poetry; and (C) Drama.
The following is an example of a format for a story. A typical report should have the following
listing and detailing the essentials of your short story:
1. The title of the story and the date of its original publication (if available).
3. The name (if any) of the main character, together with a description of that character’s
dominant traits of features.
6. The narrator of the story. (To identify him or her is, of course, to define the point of view
from which the story is told.)
7. A terse summary of the main events of the story, given in chronological order.
8. A description of the general tone of the story, as well as it can be sensed: The author’s
feeling toward the central character or the main events.
9. Some comments on the style in which the story is written. (Brief illustrative quotations
are helpful).
10. Whatever kinds of irony the story contains and what they contribute to the story.
11. The story’s main theme.
12. Leading symbols (if the story has any), with an educated guess at whatever each symbol
suggests.
13. Finally, an evaluation of the story as a whole, concisely setting forth your opinion of it.
PART B. Poetry
1. Define poetry.
2. Provide a brief biography of 5 major poets and their major poems.
3. Choose a famous poet of your choice and do a report (on A4 size paper). The format
is similar to the story format as listed above.
4. Write about a topic of your choice in about 500 words.
PART C. Drama
1. Define a play.
2. Provide a brief biography of 5 major playwrights and their major works.
