The user is unable to delete the application from the device as the application
is not listed under the Applications menu.

NOTE: Could not uninstall due to issue with Javaloader utility.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Highlight the application.

2. Select the Menu key.

3. Notice Delete is not available.

4. Select Options -> Advanced Options.

5. Select Applications.
6. Notice that the application under testing is not available for uninstallation.

INSTALL:
The application fails to install to the device as the application’s zip file
contains ‘.bar’ extension file instead of ‘.cod’ extension file.

Note: The application fails to install even if the user changes the file
extension from '.bar' to '.cod'

Steps to reproduce:

1. Download the application Zip file.

2. Extract the application Zip file.

3. Notice the application Zip file contains ‘.bar’ extension file instead of ‘.cod’
extension file.

The application fails to launch upon installation.

1. Wipe the test device.

1. (Issue)
The application icon "FollowUp" is not listed within the Applications menu.
However the user is able to find the "FollowUp" feature as an option when
ever there is a Missed call/E-mail notification. The application runs in the
background without user initiation.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Notice the application icon is not at the main menu

4. Press the SEND key to bring about the call log

5. Highlight any phone number and press the menu button

6. Notice the option "FollowUp!"

7. Also, "About FollowUP!" can be located at the "Options" menu.

If the user installs the application to the device then the application icon fails
to appear in the applications menu.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the handset.

2. Device must be registered on the network.

3. Install the application using cable loading.

4. Application’s cod files installed successfully on the device.

5. Now, open the application in the application menu

6. Notice that the application icon is not listed.

The application icon fails to appear in any folder or in the Options menu of
the device upon installation.

RUN:

The application does not allow the user to proceed to the Main menu from the
Welcome screen.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice that welcome screen is displayed and the user cannot proceed to
the Main menu by selecting the "Next" option from the Menu key options.

The application freezes if the user selects "Allow/Deny" option for the
application to access GPS.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Launch the application.

2. Select "Start Tracking"

3. Select "Allow/Deny" when prompted whether the GPS can be accessed.

4. Notice that the application freezes.

The application fails to Launch gives an error message "Error starting


FireEMSTools:Module ‘FireEMSTOOLS’ attempts to access a secure API”. With
“OK” option to dismiss the message.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handset.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the above mentioned message.

Upon first time launch, after granting Trusted Application status to all
prompts, the following message is displayed: "Can't load current theme.
Reinstall your theme." followed by the application exiting.
NOTE: This occurred on the Pearl 8120, but does not occur on the Pearl
8110. Once application is re-launched, allow access and application will take
user to Welcome screen and can use the application.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the handset

2. Launch the application

3. Select Yes" to grant Trusted Application status to all requests

4. Notice error message

5. Notice the application exiting momentarily

The application fails to launch and displays the following error messages
when user clicks on the application icons “Word To Go”, “Slideshow To Go”
and “Sheet To Go” on the Application menu to launch the application:

-"Error starting WordToGo:


Class‘net.rim.blackberry.api.mail.FileSupportedAttachment Part’ not found”

-"Error starting SlideshowToGo: Class

NOTE: On the pearl 8120, the "DocumentsToGo" icon is displayed followed


by "Up" folder and WordToGo, SlideshowToGo, and SheetToGo. The user is
also able to launch all three applications and can execute "open a file..."
without any issue.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Wipe the device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Click on the “Word To Go”, “Slideshow To Go” and “Sheet To Go” icons on
the Applications menu.

4. Notice that the above said error message appears and the application fails
to launch.

The user is unable to navigate to the main menu of the application as the
following network error is displayed “error de conexion. porfavor intentalo de
Nuevo”

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the handset.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the above mentioned network error.

The user is unable to navigate to the main menu of the application as the
following mesage is displayed “GPS is not supported on this platform,
exiting”. With ok option to dismiss the message.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the handset.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the above mentioned message.

After the user creates an account, the following message appears: “Cellfire
needs to connect to the network to work properly. Please quit and restart
Cellfire. After restart, please permit Cellfire to connect to the internet." After
relaunch, the user is required to refill the information page and the same
message continues to appear.

NOTE: The same message appears even if the user selected the "Already
Registered? Log in" option.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Fill the necessary details to create an account in login screen.

5. Select Next in the login screen and notice the message.

6. Quit and relaunch the application

7. Fill out the necessary information and proceed

8. Notice the same message appears.

The user is not able to proceed past the “? Select Email account” screen
since there is no interactive option and the user cannot exit.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Wipe the handset.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Select “Try AlertMatrix” on the screen “Thank you for installing Alert
Matrix”.

5. Select OK on the screen “You now need to select the Email address to use
for your REX wireless account”

6. Notice the screen Select Email account keeps on showing and the user
cannot exit

If the user selects any of the options like Login, Register or About from the
login screen after launching the application then the following error message
appears with an OK option to dismiss it: “Uncaught exception:
java.lang.NullPoniterException”.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the Login screen with the options Login, Register and About after
the splash screen.

5. Select any of the options.

6. Notice the above mentioned error message.

The user is unable to save the email as a note upon selecting the command
“Save to MemoPad” from the options of any received email from the email
folder in the device.
But the online review says that “The application is a program which allows
the user to save any email on device as a ‘Note’ using “Save to MemoPad”
command from the options of any received email”.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Receive an email to the test device.

4. Select the email from the email folder.

5. Press Menu key to get the options.

6. Select the command “Save to MemoPad” from the options.

7. Notice the email will not be saved as a note.

If the user installs the application and set the permission of the device and
save them, then the user is notified with a message “Uncaught exception: no
application instance” with “Ok” option to dismiss the message.

Note: However user is able to run the application from the “downloads”
folder.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.


3. Notice the message “Quickpull is requesting changes to its application
controls permissions.”

4. Save the permissions.

5. Notice the above mentioned error.

If the user enters the Zip code and selects ‘Save’ in ‘Set your home location’
screen after launching the application, then the following error message is
displayed with an OK option to dismiss it: “we were unable to connect to our
servers. Please check if your Radio is off / weak”.

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the screen ‘Set your home location’ to enter City, State or Zip with
the option Save.

5. Enter City, State or Zip and select Save.

6. Notice the above said error message.

The user is unable to sign up for the “YouMail” account as the option “SignUp
for a YouMail account here” does not have any functionality upon selecting.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Select “Allow” in the pop up message “The application you mail is


attempting to access phone information”.

4. Notice the application launches automatically.


5. Highlight the option “here” in the message “SignUp for a YouMail account
here” and press track ball to select.

6. Notice that there is no functionality for the selection.

Upon the first launch after first time installation, the user is unable to proceed
past the “End User License Agreement” since scroll seems disabled. Pressing
the menu key does nothing and pressing the Escape key will bring up the
Quit option. However, after upon second attempt, the application starts with
the keyboard display and the user is able to scroll down and proceed to the
next screen.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. MUST wipe the test device first

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Select the application from the Downloads menu.

4. Launch the application.

5. Notice the “End User License Agreement” screen.

6. Observe that the user unable to scroll down to “Accept” the Agreement.

7. Notice the above mentioned error.

The user is unable navigate further as the application keeps on showing


loading screen after selecting “Login” option.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the Handheld.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Fill the login credentials and select “Login”.


5. Notice that the loading screen appears and the user is unable to navigate
further.

When the application is launched for the second time, notice that the handset
freezes and the application fails to launch.

Note: Same behavior is occurring on 3rd, 4th….Nth time of launching.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the Validation screen to enter Key with the options: OK, Renew and
Cancel.

5. Select Cancel to exit the application.

6. Again launch the application from the Downloads folder.

7. Notice that the above mentioned behavior and the application fail to
launch.

If the user provides valid credentials for registration and clicks "Save" button,
then the user notices a message "java.lang.ClassCastException" with "OK"
option to dismiss the message and hence the user is unable to login to the
application.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application.

3. Launch the application.


4. Notice the login screen.

5. Click "New user" option and fill all the credentials.

6. Click "Save" and notice the above mentioned message.

CALL:
If the user tries to resume the application after ending a voice call then the
application exits to the device’s menu.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Make a voice call to the test device.

5. Answer and end the voice call.

6. Notice the application exits.

The application is not suspending when the user receives an incoming voice
call. However the user can talk in the phone without any voice interruption.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.


3. Launch the application.

4. Make a voice call to the test device.

5. Receive the voice call.

6. Notice the application is still running without suspending.

When the application is suspended with an incoming voice call, then the
application sounds are audible along with the device ringer.

Note: However the user can talk in the phone without any voice interruption.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Enable the Sound in Enable sound screen.

5. Place an incoming call to the test device while on the application main
menu.

6. Notice the application sounds are audible along with the test device ringer.

The user is unable to hear the sounds from the test device when the call is in
progress.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Make a voice call to the test device.


5. Answer the voice call.

6. Notice that the sounds are not audible from the test device.

ISSUE:

When the application is suspended with an incoming voice call, then the
application sounds are audible along with the device ringer.

Note: However the user can talk in the phone without any voice interruption.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Enable the Sound in Enable sound screen.

SMS:
1.

When the user switches to the SMS/Email inbox to read the message, notices
that the application exits.

4. Receive an SMS/Email.

5. Switch to the SMS/Email inbox to read the message

6. Notice that the application exits once the user switches over to the
SMS/Email inbox.

The user is unable to reply back to the received SMS/Email as the application
would return back to the same screen under test upon selecting Messages
from the task list.

NOTE: The selected application (Messages) is active in the background in the


task list when the user selects Alt-Esc (back) for the second time on the
application screen.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Send an SMS message to the test device.

5. Press Alt-Esc on the application screen to reply back to the received SMS
message.

6. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

The user is unable to reply back to the received SMS/Email as the application
would return back to the same screen under test upon selecting Messages
from the task list.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Send an SMS message to the test device.

5. Press Alt-Esc on the application screen to reply back to the received SMS
message.

6. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

If the user receives an SMS, then the user unable to reply back to that SMS
message as the application under testing runs in the foreground.

Note: Upon selecting the SMS message from the task list, the user can see
that the SMS messages screen is active behind the application under testing
screen.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the application prompt.


5. Send an SMS message to test device.

6. Press Alt-Esc on the application prompt screen to reply back to the


received SMS message.

7. Notice that selecting the SMS message icon from the task takes the user to
the SMS inbox.

8. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

EMAIL:
When the user switches to the SMS/Email inbox to read the message, notices
that the application exits.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the application Welcome screen showing a message “Verifying


secure network connection”.

5. Receive an SMS/Email.

6. Switch to the SMS/Email inbox to read the message

7. Notice that the application exits once the user switches over to the
SMS/Email inbox.

If the user receives an Email, then the user unable to reply back to that Email
message as the application under testing runs in the foreground.

Note: Upon selecting the Email message from the task list, the user can see
that the email messages screen is active behind the application under testing
screen.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the application prompt.

5. Send an Email message to test device.

6. Press Alt-Esc on the application prompt screen to reply back to the


received Email message.

7. Notice that selecting the Email message icon from the task takes the user
to the Email inbox.

8. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

The user is unable to reply back to the received SMS/Email as the application
would return back to the same screen under test upon selecting Messages
from the task list.

NOTE: The selected application (Messages) is active in the background in the


task list when the user selects Alt-Esc (back) for the second time on the

The user is unable to reply back to the received SMS/Email as the application
would return back to the same screen under test upon selecting Messages
from the task list.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Send an Email to the test device.

5. Press Alt-Esc on the application screen to reply back to the received Email
message.

6. Notice the above mentioned behavior.


PAUSE/RESUME:
1.

The application icon is not listed within the task list, hence the user is unable
to switch to another application using alt-esc and return to the application
under test.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

4. Notice that the application icon is not listed within the Application menu.

5. Now open the task list using the alt-esc buttons, notice that the application
is not listed.

6. Hence was unable to switch to another application and return to the


application under test using alt-esc buttons.

The user is unable to resume back to the application under test since the
application icon is not available within the task list once switched to another
application. The application appears to have exit.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.


3. Launch the application.

4. While in the application, switch to another application using Alt-Esc (Back).

5. Notice the application is not listed within the task list after resuming back
from another application.

3. Live screen

The user is not able to switch to another application using alt-esc. The
application would return back to the same screen under test.

NOTE: Upon selecting the Internet Browser from the task list, the user can
see that the selected application's name at the top left corner of the screen
which indicate is it active behind the application under testing's screen.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Now open the task list using the alt-esc buttons.

4. Select any other application from task menu.

5. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

If the user selects the Alt-Esc with in the application to switch to another
application, then the user notices that the task list blinks real fast and is not
properly displayed, thereby making it extremely difficult for the user to see
what to select.
Note: However user is able view the task list clearly when selecting the Alt-
Esc from another application to return back to the application under test.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. While the application is running press Alt-Esc to switch to the other


application.

5. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

If the user selects the Alt-Esc with in the application to switch to another
application, then the user notices that border of the task list blinks
repeatedly. However user is able view the task list items clearly.

Note: The same behavior is observed when the user receives an incoming
voice call (Incoming popup blinks).

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. While the application is running press Alt-Esc to switch to the other


application.

5. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

When the user switches to another application by pressing alt-esc, then the
user notices that the application sounds are still audible.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the sounds are audible in the application.

5. Switch to another application by pressing alt-esc.

6. Notice the sounds are still audible.

The user is unable to switch to another application using alt-esc. The


application would return back to the same screen under test.

NOTE: The selected application is active in the background in the task list
when the user selects Alt-Esc (back) for the second time on the application
screen.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Switch to another application from the task list using Alt-Esc (back).

5. Notice the application would return back to the same screen under test.

6. Select Alt-Esc (back) again on the application screen.


7. Notice the selected application shown in the background of task list.

The user is unable to switch to another application using alt-esc. The


application would return back to the same screen under test.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Switch to another application from the task list using Alt-Esc (back).

5. Notice the application would return back to the same screen under test.

EXIT:
1.

The user cannot "Exit" the application by selecting "Exit" from the Menu key
options as the option appears grayed out. Also, the return key does not allow
the user to exit.

NOTE: Pressing the END key merely take the user to the Downloads but the
application hasn't exited. This is confirmed by pressing the Menu key on the
device and selecting "Switch Application".

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the application.

2. Launch the application.

3. Notice that the welcome screen appears.

4. Press the Menu key and select "Exit" from options.

5. Notice that the option appears grayed out and the application does not
exit.

The user cannot “Exit” the application as the user is not provides with any
“Exit” option with in the application.

Note: Even if the user tries to “Exits” the application by using “Back” key,
then the user unable to exit the application.

Steps to Reproduce:

The name of the application is listed as “HADOWWALKE” instead of


“SHADOWWALKER” in the application’s main menu since the application is
showing the full screen.

ISSUE:
If the user launches the application then there is a black screen blinking

Issue:

The application sounds are not audible upon resuming to the application after

4. Select the sound option to YES.

5. Notice the music is audible in the application’s main menu.

6. Place an incoming call to the test device while on the application.

7. Receive and end the call.

8. Notice that application sounds are not audible upon resuming to the

If the user switches to any another application after finishing an incoming


voice call while the application sounds are audible then the user is unable to
resume back to the application under test.

Note: However the application works fine, if the user finishes an incoming
voice call when the application sounds set to OFF.

application's sound does not resume when the user return back to the

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Enable the Sound in Enable sound screen.

5. Press any country to enter the main menu.

6. Place an incoming call to the test device while on the application main
menu.

7. Receive and end the call.

8. Notice that the music will not resume after resumption from an
interruption.

When the user resumes back to the application from the task list or after
ending any incoming interruption, notice that there is graphical glitch is
observed for few seconds.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. While in the main menu of the application, switch to task list or place any
incoming interruption.

5. Notice that on resumption to the application above mentioned issue is


observed.
The user is prompted with “The application must be restarted to complete
registration” message upon launching the application for the first time
entering email ID.

Note: However the application works fine after restart.

The user is unable to switch back to the application after answering the sms.

menu. However the user is able to find the “Forward with Edit “feature as an

background without user initiation.

If the user launches the application, then the user notices that the “About”
option in application menu is cut off.

If the user launches the application and selects the option” am a new user”
from the application, then the user notices the following error message ‘HTTP
Error 404: Not Found’

If the user launches the application, the user unable to navigate to the main
menu of the application as the application display a message “Logon to
license server was unsuccessful, Please try later”

4. Notice the above mentioned message.

After launching the application and granting Trusted Application status and
permitting all permissions to all prompts, the following message is displayed
as "Uncaught exception: Phone number must contain all digits" with Ok
option to dismiss the message.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the handset

2. Launch the application

3. Select ‘Yes’ to grant Trusted Application status to all requests and allow all
permissions.

4. Notice the above said error message.


If the user launches the application for First time, then the user notices an
error message “Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullpointerException”. With
“OK” option to dismiss the message.

Note: However the application launches successfully for the second time.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

Note: If the user launches the application, then the user is prompted to install
"MobiPocket Reader”. After installing the application user notices
"MobiPocket Reader” icon in download folder and testing done on
"MobiPocket Reader" screen.

The user is unable to navigate to the main menu of the application as the
“login” and “New User” options do not have functionality.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the Handheld.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application

4. Notice the above mentioned behavior.


If the user launches the application, then the user notices a message “invalid
license key” and the user is unable to navigate to the main menu of the
application.

The user can create an account with in the application after registering in the
application and entering valid password in password filed. Then the user
notices a message "No user found. Please register”.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Wipe the handset.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Select Register option.

5. Fill all the fields.

6. Enter valid password in password filed.

7. Notices a message "No user found. Please register”.

Unable to decide the "Purchasing Type" as the application fails to navigate to


the main menu.

The user is unable to navigate to the main menu of the application as the
Login details are not provided to the user.
Note: To register the application user needs UMD.EDU email address.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Notice the Login details are not provided to the user.

If the user launches the application then user notices an error message “
Net.rim.device.api.io.file.file.FileIOexception: File not found” with ‘ok’ option
to dismiss the message.

4. Notice the above mentioned behavior.

If the user launches the application then the notices a splash screen for a few
seconds and the application exits to the device’s main menu.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the Handheld.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.


4. Notice the Splash screen.

5. Notice the application Exits to device menu and application fails to launch.

Unable to test this application as there is no user interface.

The user is unable to perform this test case as the application is not listed
under the Applications menu.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Select Options -> Advanced Options-> Applications.

4. Notice the application is not listed to perform this test case.

The user is unable to navigate to the main menu of the application as the
user does not received any text message containing of login information to
log on in the application.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the test device.

2. Install the application.

3. Launch the application.

4. Enter the Valid Mobile Number.

5. Select "Submit" option.

5. Notice that the user did not receive any text message.

The user is unable to select yes option from the “sound selection” screen as
there is no functionality for the option “Q” to select.

The Application launches upon installation but the icon is not visible in
download folder. User can confirm by noticing the application in options-

The user is unable to navigate to the main menu of the application as the
following message is displayed: "can not connect to sever".

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the Handheld.

2. Install the application using Java loader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Select Register option.

5. Enter valid user details

6. Notice the above mentioned message.


If the user tries to register with in the application after entering valid details,
then the user notices that the user name is “Unavailable” and user is unable
to enter in to the main menu of the application.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Wipe the handheld.

2. Install the application using Javaloader.

3. Launch the application.

4. Select New User.

5. Enter valid user details in registration screen.

6. Notice user name is unavailable and user is unable to register with in the
application.
