INSTRUCTIONS FOR TUBULAR MOTORS

JOLLY “SAT IS” E “SAT SOFT IS”
1 General description
The Jolly SAT system comprises a tubular motor with an electronic limit switch equipped with a high performance radio-receiving system.
Each SAT motor can recognise up to 48 different channels belonging to compatible transmitters. The first memorized remote control (MASTER) can
be used both to set limit points and to memorize or delete channels from memory.
The remote control is key to all effects, as it possesses its own ID code that can only be recognised by the receiver/s that have deliberately been
enabled for this purpose and which send encoded signals using the Rolling Code system.
The SAT SOFT IS motor automatically slows the advancement speed of the blind when it is close to the mechanical ledge, so that the blind closes
gently and completely.
All the Jolly SAT IS tubular motors also have the SELF BLOCK safety system, which stops the motor if the movement of the tube is accidentally
obstructed. If the special SECURITY PULLEY is applied, the motor can also identify obstacles during descent.
2 Advice for user
Dear customer, please read carefully following advice in order to guarantee the correct operation of the motor and safety of people.

• Keep remote controls away from children.

• Watch the moving shutter/awning and keep people away until it stops.
• Frequently examine the installation for imbalance and signs of wear or damage. Do not use if repair or adjustment is necessary.
• Disconnect the rolling shutter/awning from the power supply when maintenance work such as window cleaning is carried out nearby.

3 Advice for installer

INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN LEAD TO SEVERE INJURY

BEFORE INSTALLING THE MOTOR, READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY

• Our motors are exclusively designed for moving various types of rolling shutters and awnings in private homes. The
manufacturer must expressively give prior approval to any other use of the motor.
• Before installing the motor remove any unnecessary cords and equipment not required for motorized operation.
• Our motors are correctly designed and operations are compatible with the characteristics of the operated parts, only if the
operating loads comply with: “Application diagram for rolling shutters” and “Application diagram for sun awnings”.
• Any other accessories necessary for the installation of the motor such as adaptors and supports must be carefully chosen
among those offered by the manufacturer.
• The supply cable must be carefully fixed in order to avoid contact with any moving part.
• Any screws used to fix to the tube rolling shutters / awnings must in no way touch the motor.
• The motor must be safeguarded from any water contact.
• The adapter ring that operates the limit switch (see picture detail 4 in below illustration) must not be drilled or rotated
before installation and must be perfectly fit inside the roller tube (picture detail 10 in below illustration).
• The moving parts of the motor installed at a height lower than 2.5 m from the floor must be protected from access.
• If the motor is installed in the shutter box, it must be have a service access in order to easily allow inspection for
adjustment and control of the installation.
• Depending on the motor series, the minimum internal diameter of the rolling tube (picture detail 10 in below illustration)
must be larger than:
Series 40/XX = 37 mm, Series 50/XX = 47 mm, Series 60/XX = 57 mm.
• When installing an awning, leave a space of at least 40 cm between the completely opened awning and any other object.

5 Electric connections
WARNING:
• The connection to the supply line (in the switchboard) must be made by a two-pole
switch with an opening distance of 3mm between contacts.
ANTENNA WIRE
• The gear motor is made for intermittent working. However, it is provided by an internal
(17 cm)
thermal protection, which stops the power supply in case of overheating, for example
after continuous operations (more than 10 non-stop). The motor re-functioning
happens after a time not lower than 10 minutes, at the end of which the thermal
BROWN (PHASE) protection resets itself automatically. But, after this resetting, the motor can function at
a reduced rate; the normal functioning will be possible only after a complete motor
BLUE (NEUTRAL)
cooling (about 60 minutes).
YELLOW/GREEN (GND)
• The antenna cable on the limits switches unit (on the side of the power supply cable),
has to be located inside the roller box in order to stretch it as much as possible,
avoiding the contact with parts in movement. If necessary stop the position using some
plastic clamps.
• For motor installations where the cable is outdoor, the special 05RN-F cable must be used (to be requested from the manufacturer), or else it is
necessary to protect the standard P.V.C. cable (that is supplied with the motor), by inserting it in special protection tubes (conduits) to protect it
from the weather.
• If the electricity supply cable of this motor is damaged, it must be replaced only by a repair centre, recognised by the manufacturer, as it is
necessary to use special equipment. In cases where such indications are not adhered to, the guarantee will be rendered invalid.
• If there are any disturbances on the supply line, it is advisable to connect to the motor a special filter, which can be supplied on request.
6 Limit switch adjustment
WARNING:

• The first limit point set must be the lower one (roller shutter closed or awning
G1
opened).
• When programming the limit points, one may find that the direction of the
arrows on the remote control does not correspond with the actual direction in
2 1
which the roller shutter/awning moves. In any case, please follow the
4 instructions below: the direction will automatically coincide once the
P3 3 procedure has been completed.
• The upper limit point must be set within a reasonable margin below the
G2
maximum limit (approx. 4cm for roller shutters, approx. 15cm for awnings).
From this point onwards, if the SAT SOFT IS motor is installed, the roller
awning will continue to move at a reduced speed until it reaches complete
closure.
• In the case of rolling shutters, do not install stopper or stop carriers on the
end blade.

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:
a) Press buttons 1 and 2 at the same time and keep them pressed for 20 seconds (during this time the ratio-motor will emit a continuous low
sound). This operation allows the start-up of programming and the previous end run points are erased from the memory.
b) In the case of roller shutters, move the tube into the most convenient position for attachment.
WARNING: Screws used to fix the rolling shutter to the tube must not touch the inner motor.
c) Reach the desired lower stop position.
d) Keep buttons 1 and 2 pressed for at least 1 second, then release the buttons and immediately press the button used to lower the roller
shutter/awning. The motor tilts for a while as confirmation that the lower limit point has been memorized.
e) Reach the desired upper stop position.
f) Keep buttons 1 and 2 pressed for at least 1 second, then release the buttons and immediately press the button used to raise the roller
shutter/awning. The motor tilts for a while as confirmation that the upper limit point has been memorized. From this point onwards the reduced
speed phase begins in the case of SAT SOFT IS motors.
NOTE: If any mistakes are made during the procedure, motor could get stuck and it is necessary to repeat the procedure from point a).
7 Operating with remote controls
• In the following paragraphs we’ll call “CONTROL GROUP” a couple of push buttons used to move rolling shutter or awning up and down (e.g.
G1 and G2 in the picture).
• Each SAT tubular motor can recognise up to 48 different channels belonging to compatible transmitters (every control group is made of 2
channels).
• If one of the buttons is pressed for more than 30 seconds, the remote control switches off automatically.
• It may occur that a command is not completed due to interference. In this case, release the button and then press it again.

MEMORIZATION OF THE FIRST TRANSMITTER (MASTER)

WARNING: During memorization of the master avoid switching on other motors with empty memory as above-mentioned procedure will memorize
the same master with all the SAT motors which are switched on. In case of error see paragraph “Replacement of master”.
This first transmitter memorized, which we’ll call the MASTER one, can be used both to set limit points and to memorize or delete other command
groups from memory.
While all subsequent memorized transmitters can be deleted from memory by simply using the MASTER one (see paragraph “Deleting a control
group”), the only way to clear the MASTER remote control from memory is through the special procedure explained in paragraph “Replacing of
Master ”.
a) Press briefly the internal button P3 (see picture) of the remote control that is to become the MASTER one. The motor will emit a continuous
beep.
b) Press immediately both buttons 1 and 2 of the remote control together. As confirmation of the successful memorization, the motor will emit an
intermittent beep.

MEMORIZATION OF OTHER CONTROL GROUPS:

If you wish to operate a SAT motor by control groups other than the one related to the MASTER transmitter, follow this procedure:
a) Press briefly button P3 (see picture) inside the MASTER remote control. The motor will emit a continuous beep.
Press immediately one of the buttons of the new control group you want to memorize. As confirmation of the successful memorization, the motor
will emit an intermittent beep.

Examples:
• Centralization: If you wish to control several SAT motors by using the control group G2 (see picture) of one of their MASTER (which we name
GENERAL), just repeat the previously explained memorization procedure for every motor, where each time the MASTER mentioned in point a)
is that of the motor that is added to the centralization of controls. Unlike the control group mentioned in point b) is always the same and in this
case it is group G2 of the GENERAL.
• Compatible radio control units: If you wish to have one or more SAT motors recognize radio controls sent by compatible transmitting control
unit, just repeat previous points a) and b) for every SAT motor, remembering that each time the MASTER mentioned in point a) varies. Unlike
the control group mentioned in point b) is always the same and is represented by the buttons inside the control unit used to control the motor
manually.

DELETING A CONTROL GROUP:

If you no longer want a Jolly SAT motor to recognise the controls sent by a remote control other than the MASTER one or by a transmitting control
unit, follow this procedure:
a) Press 3 times button P3 (see picture) inside the MASTER remote control. The motor will emit an intermittent beep.
b) Press immediately one of the buttons of the command group that you want to delete (e.g. button 3 or 4 of a GENERAL transmitter).

34779 rev.0.0 II/05 3

REPLACING OF MASTER
In order to replace the MASTER remote control, follow this procedure:
a) Cut off power supply.
b) Provide power supply: the SAT motor will emit immediately a first beep as confirmation that power is supplied. After a time that may vary from 2
sec. to 2 min. and 6 sec., the SAT motor will emit a second beep.
c) Within the 4 sec. of the second beep, press, at least 4 times, the internal pushbutton P3 of the transmitter that is to operate as the new
MASTER. The buzzer beeps intermittently for 3 sec. by signalling successful memorization of the new MASTER remote control.

WARNING:
• If before the second beep the SAT motor is reached by a radio signal sent by a compatible transmitter, even if not memorized, the previous
procedure is interrupted.
• Above procedure does not delete other previously memorized control groups.

8 Safety functions

If an obstacle accidentally prevents the rolling tube from moving, the “SELF BLOCK” safety system stops the motor within seconds.

If the special SECURITY PULLEY is applied, the motor type SAT IS can also identify obstacles during descent (only with rolling shutters). In this
case, the motor stops and then pulls up the shutter slightly. This special feature does not work close to the limit points.

In both cases remove the obstacle and repeat the control.
