1  As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not
Proverbs 26:2
come.

1. The curse of God

 The unsaved
o Proverbs 3:33   The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he
blesseth the habitation of the just.
o Isaiah 3:10   Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat
the fruit of their doings. 11  Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the
reward of his hands shall be given him.
o 2 Corinthians 5:20   Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did
beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.21  For he
hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.
 Wilful Disobedience
o Genesis 3;14-19
o Adam, Eve and the serpent.

2. The curse of man

 Internally generated
o Through the tongue
 Proverbs 18:21   ¶Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they
that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
 James 3:5   Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things.
Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6  And the tongue is a fire, a
world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the
whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
 Jam 3:5 [THE MESSAGE] A word out of your mouth may seem of no
account, but it can accomplish nearly anything--or destroy it! It only takes a
spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. :6 A careless or wrongly placed
word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn
harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in
smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.
o Through your thoughts
 Proverbs 4:23   Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the
issues of life.
o Through bitterness

Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
 Genesis 4:11  And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath
opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12
When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her
strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
 Externally generated
o From biological parents (in-laws included) + spiritual parents
 Ephesians 6:1  ¶Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2
Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with
promise;) 3  That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the
earth.
o From Prophets
 Hosea 12:13  And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a
prophet was he preserved.
 Prophets are people sent by God to ensure or aid your transition from one level
of life to another. They can be pastors/spiritual leaders, teachers, mentors,
senior brethren, etc.

4. The curse of seedtime and harvest
 Genesis 8:21  And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not
again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from
his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. 22  While
the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and
day and night shall not cease.
 Ecclesiastes 10:5  There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which
proceedeth from the ruler: 6  Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place. 7  I
have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth. 8  He that
diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. 9
Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood shall be
endangered thereby.
 Galatians 6:5  For every man shall bear his own burden. 7  Be not deceived; God is not
mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8  For he that soweth to his
flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap
life everlasting.
 What you sow is what you reap. As you lay your bed, so you will finally lay on it.
