NB has been in contact with Eric Sims who owned the company which made Harald. He now fixes
boats and has estimated fixing Harald will cost £800-£1000 including transport (£120). NB informed
committee that insurance should cover the cost. Members decide that we can͛t rent a boat for
another term due to expense but is worthwhile this term for May bumps, given that there are 2
good crews. It may also help when finding new sponsorship during May Bumps.

YC suggests considering buying a 2nd hand boat ʹ in February was one available £10000. Members
decide it is best to plan to buy a new boat.

YC explains that the Boatman has said that Harald will keep going for as long as we need if we fix
him. Members decide that we will fix Harald. AT will get a quote from Eric Sims and also from
Janousek. The quote then needs to be given to NB to give to insurance.

AT explains that boats can be remoulded, which makes the boat feel more like a new boat, and the
committee agrees that AT should ask Eric Sims for two quotes: one including this and one not.

The members decide that the meeting will take place on Wednesday 18th May.

The members discussed what they want to be brought up at the meeting:

| Buying a new boat, preferably with college investment. NB needs to know how much money
the boat club has available. CW suggested that boat club members target boat club alumnae
in the college fundraising phone calls, requesting a donation specifically for the boat club
rather than the general development fund.
| The club͛s senior treasurer and what he/she can do to help the boat club gain sponsorship.
| Cambridge Consultancy sponsorship. If HS contacts them before the meeting, the members
at the meeting can say the boat club is in the process of requesting continued sponsorship.
EB suggests that a letter is sent, detailing the club͛s achievements during the time
Cambridge Consultancy were sponsoring us (NB suggests mentioning that we row on and off
the Cam), and ending with a request for more sponsorship.
| Will not bring up the money that college gives the boat club already. AT explains that college
gives £3000 plus insurance to us, and underwrites up to £2000 any funds the boat club
raises.

NB should be prepared to take minutes of the meeting.

YC asks where we would rack a new boat. AT says we can͛t realistically get rid of Winston due to his
usefulness with novices. NB suggests renting Harald out if he is not needed. The members decide to
worry about this until we get a new boat.

YC will give HS the information necessary so that HS can design the format for the sponsorship
brochure.

YC explains that the Boatman has told her that the blade sleeves on the pink blades need replacing,
one having worn through. This will cost £360. NB says the boat club has overspent on repairs by
£700 this year and we do not know whether we will need more repairs for May bumps yet. YC
suggests that we ask how important it is and plan to leave it until the summer.

CW describes the provisional timetable for novice outings and ergs and RM explains that W3 will be
erging this term. RM and CW request that EB or YC coaches the weekend W3 outing.

YC checks that the novices will have done 10 outings before getting-on-race. An LBC needs to email
EB the novice crew for the getting-on race by this weekend, and EB will decide on a W3 crew based
on their availability. AT will ask the Fitzwilliam cox about availability for the getting-on-race.

RM questions W3 having 4 outings next week but EB says it is fine: it is due to change of weekend
outing day.

CW checks that it is fine for W3 to row in John

NB says she has received very few (3) cheques for bumps breakfast yet 52 people have accepted on
facebook. MS or OJ should mail the list to encourage people to come, and to remind them to pay. AT
will send an email to the CUCBC contacts list about bumps breakfast.
