II SÚMULA
O curso busca explicitar o estado da arte da teoria urbana, com ênfase na área de modelos
configuracionais e morfológicos. A teoria da urbanização é apresentada em seus antecedentes e principais
vertentes conceituais, com os correspondentes modelos teóricos. A representação configuracional do
sistema urbano se desenvolve a partir dos conceitos de diferenciação, ordem, estrutura e processo, que são
associados a teorias urbanas e métodos descritivos e preditivos. Assume-se o pressuposto da autonomia
relativa da forma urbana, que possuiria uma dinâmica própria, a qual, mesmo interagindo com as demais
dimensões e variáveis urbanas e sofrendo influências delas, manteria certos padrões, estabilidade e
estrutura. Isto poderia, então, ser representado como um sistema autônomo. A representação do processo
de transformação espacial urbana abre perspectivas de, a) estender e aprofundar o conhecimento do
fenômeno urbano, b) desenvolver medidas e indicadores de desenvolvimento para aplicações em
avaliação e análise espacial e c) suportar a ação projetual e normativa.

III OBJETIVOS
Apresentar as mais importantes explanações teóricas do fenômeno urbano e, dentro delas, o
corpo conceitual e metodológico da Morfologia/Configuração Urbana, promover o conhecimento dos
meios de representar a forma urbana através de modelos, examinar casos-estudo e delinear caminhos
disponíveis para a pesquisa na área.

PROFESSOR (2 HORAS-AULA), SEGUIDA DE UM SEMINÁRIO SOBRE OS MESMOS
TEMAS, PREPARADO E APRESENTADO PELOS ESTUDANTES.O SEMINÁRIO TEM
POR OBJETIVO AMPLIAR A TEMÁTICA, EXAMINANDO BIBLIOGRAFIA
COMPLEMENTAR, COMPILADA PELO ESTUDANTE, EXTENSÕES TEÓRICAS,
DÚVIDAS, INTERFACE ENTRE TEORIA E REALIDADE EMPÍRICA, ETC.
A avaliação será feita com base na preparação e apresentação de seminários, e uma prova escrita
final.
