7. Background of the Organization: A group of ex-army personnel
formed this organization named Purba Netajipally Rural Development Society (PNRDS) in 2006. Its mission is to facilitate various developmental programmes for the poor and marginalized families to uplift their socio- economic status. The organization is presently working in 5 villages - Raria, Mehendigram, Bijgram, Pirojpur and Gobindapur covered 8380 population in the backward district of Uttar Dinajpur in West Bengal and there is a plan to expand the operation in 20 villages. PNRDS is registered in 2006-07 as a Society Registration Act, 1961 (No. S/1L/42574).
8. Working area: Initially the organization started its work at
Raria and Bagdumur gram sansad, 12 no. Barua Gram Panchayat of Raiganj Panchayat Samity and now it extends its operation at Pirojpur Gram Sansad at 13 no. Kamalabari GP of Raiganj Panchayet Samity.
9. Present activities: i. Social map preparation by involving local
people
ii. Self-Help group (SHG) promotion &
Nurturing
iii. Awareness on health issues & Agriculture
iv. Seminar on ‘Stand up Against Poverty’
v. Promotion of Home garden at
household level
vi. Advocacy campaign with PRI
Vii. Linkage of SHG with PRI and other line
Departments
viii. Free medical camp for old-age and
distress
ix. Campaign against Child labour with
NCLP
x. Addressing Adolescents (specially girls)
issues
xi. Child Protection programme
10. Sources of Fund: Members’ subscriptions and donation from
well-wishers
