GE was one of the first American companies established in Vietnam since 1993 even before the US Embargo was lifted.
GE first set up a representative office in Hanoi in 1993, and subsequently in HCM City in 2001, working in partnership with
local organizations. In 2003, GE established GE Vietnam Ltd, a 100% GE capital investment that offers a wide range of
after-sales services in the fields of medical, electrical and energy equipment. The first investment of GE Energy in
Haiphong late 2007 has further enhanced GE's commitment to the country of Vietnam.

GE's major products in Vietnam are aircraft
engines, aircrafts leasing, locomotives, turbines
and generators for power stations, healthcare
equipment, security systems, water treatment
equipments, home appliances and financial
services. On top of that, GE's range of products
also includes lighting products, factory
automation, and television programming to
name a few. GE's main customers in Vietnam are
Vietnam Airlines, Electricity of Vietnam
Corporation, Vietnam Railway Corporation, Petro
Vietnam, state-owned and private hospitals.
Business Highlights of GE in Vietnam
GE Energy: Supplying hydro turbines and
generators for Song Hinh, Ham Thuan and
Quang Tri hydro power plants, steam turbines
and generators for Pha Lai 2 coalfired power
plant and 2X9FA for Phu My 2.2 Combined Cycle
Power Plant.
GE Aviation: 16 out of 48 aircrafts of Vietnam
Airlines fleet are using GE engines including
Boeing 777 and Airbus 320. Pacific Airlines has
06/06 aircrafts powered by GE engines and
01/06 leases by GECAS (GE Commercial Aviation
Services).
GE Healthcare: Providing state-of-the-art
medical equipments for big national and
international hospitals such as Friendship
Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, FV Hospital, Thanh
Hoa Province Hospital.
GE Oil & Gas: providing compressors for Dung
Quat Refinery, Ca Mau Fertilizer and other Oil &
Gas projects.
Today, Vietnam is more than a market for GE
products, but also serves as an important
destination from which GE sources components
for its products worldwide, and establishes
partnerships with local companies.

been awarded Certificate of Appreciation by
United States Department of State in recognition
of its contributions to US- Vietnam Education
Cooperation by launching this GE Foundation
Scholar-Leaders Program, and by participating in
the US- Vietnam Education Task Force as well as
sponsoring English language Educational TV
programs.
GE Foundation also dedicated $225,000 grant
through the US-Vietnam Trade Council Education
Forum (USVTC-EF) and STAR Vietnam for a
program centered on the rule of law in Vietnam.
Through the program, “Advancing the Rule of Law
in Vietnam”, GE Foundation will enhance USVTC-EF
and STAR Vietnam's work to improve the rule of
law in Vietnam, as mandated by the WTO and
other international commitments, through
partnerships with the US Government and private
sector support.
The GE Volunteers organization in Vietnam has run
annual volunteer projects to support the
community including donation to victims of
disasters and orphanage villages.
