The Health and Views of Americans During the Obama Administration

For the first time in American history the masses of the United States are residing under

an African American President. The change in ethnicity for the Commander in Chief is not the

only recent social change that has occurred. New political parties are being formed, extremely

sensitive propositions are being voted on statewide, and the cost of education is rising. Viewing

all of these elements from the outside it would be easy to make assumptions on the popular

opinions of the masses, but are all these radical features reflective the larger section of American

opinions or merely a small portion of the citizens? During a cross-sectional study of American

citizens some of these hard questions were addressed.

In an effort to figure out the correlation between political party, current health, opinions

on health care reform, and other variables pertaining to citizens health and political stances a

survey of 23 questions was created and dispersed. It is predicted that the taller a person is, the

more likely they are to be overweight. Today women are still on average making less than men.

In regards to political party it is assumed that more republicans than democrats believe that

Obama will not be re-elected, are not in favor of the health care bill as passed, and are in favor of

the death penalty. A correlation between being left handed and opposed to the death penalty is

also explored along with the notion that right handed people consuming more water than left

handed counterparts. The tea party has recently rose in popularity and it is believed that many

who converted over to that party were coming from a Republican or Conservative background.

Lastly, the idea that more Republicans than Democrats are registered to vote is confronted.
