The Murugan temple is the second of the Arupadai Vedu (six abodes) of Lord Muruga.

Senthil Aandavar with Valli and Deivayanai temple is popular here and managed by
Government of Tamil Nadu. Inscriptions of King Ukkira Pandian and other kings are
available in this temple. Arunagirinathar's Tiruppugazh and Nakkeerar's
Tirumurugatruppadai are both based on the Muruga here.a definite holy destination to
visit..

• Karkuvel Iyyanar temple, at hamlet called Theri kudiirruppu near kayamozhi


(11 km).
• Arunsunai Kaatha Iyyanar and sunai (15 km)
• Aazhigudi maradachan (heart attack) temple. and also single stone 20 ft ayyanar
is here. enjoy the river thamirabarani here
• Nallur Thirunageshwaramudayar with Aramvalartha Nayagi sivan temple. Old
temple near by santhana mariyamman temple also is there. This Ambal is a
fertility shrine.

Devasthanam Accommodations

The Devasthanam maintains a large number of rooms and cottages for the convenience of
pilgrims who wish to put up close by to Sri Subrahmanya Swami Tirukkovil in order to
have darshan and fulfill their vows. Most rooms and cottages are family-sized.

All rooms and cottages provide basic facilities, viz. electricity and running water only.
Cottages also offer limited parking facility. During festival times these accommodations
tend to fill up quickly, so the pilgrims are advised to book in advance.

Bus services
Srivilliputhur is about 90 kms from Tirunelveli, about 70 kms from Madurai and 80 kms
from Tenkasi.

Frequent buses from Tirunelveli via Sankaran Koil-Rajapalayam (2 hours). From


Madurai, one can take the Tenkasi-Courtallam bus. Buses ply every 10-15 minutes.

Lord Thirukuttralanathar temple is surrounded by mountains and rivers which has placed
it's name in the famous Thaevaram. The Lord Shiva only called as "
Thirukuttralanathar "and the Amman is named as " Kuzhalal VaiMozhi ". This
pilgrimage centre has a famous waterfalls in it known as Shivamathungai. This
pilgrimage centre got its name since the famous poet "Agathiyar" worshipped here. Also
it was well sung by almost all the community poet's. It has many sub-temples in
Courtallam and they were maintained by the temple Devasthanam. The temples are as

t is a big tourist attraction and is visited by young and old alike, because of the herbal
medicinal properties the water is believed to contain. The town is noted for its salubrious
climate and natural scenery. There are 2 important temples here. One dedicated to Shiva
is called as Thirukuttralanathar. The othr temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga (2 Kms
from Courtallam).

Another interesting place is Thirumalai - 15 Kms. from Courtallam, where there is a


beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Muruga on the ranges of the Western
ghats.-----------------

Srivilliputtur-Shenbagathoppu giant squirrel sanctuary:

Sankarankoil:

This temple town is just an hour’s drive from Srivilliputtur. The main deity is Lord
Sankaranarayanar- One half Lord Shiva and the other half is Lord Narayana. This is a
rare place of worship emphasizing that Lord Shiva and Narayana are one and the same
Sri Gomathi Ambal and Lord Sankaralingam are other main deities.

it is endowed with many water falls. From June to February one can visit courtallam and
enjoy bath at the falls. Main Falls, Puliaruvi, Five falls, Shenbagadevi falls and old
Courtallam are famous ones. Courtallam Temple with its Chithira- meaning drawings-
Sabha is one among the five abodes of Lord Nataraja- the dancing deity.One cannot miss
Tenkasi which is very near to Courtralam. Temple and sculptures of Pandya period are
famous.

Distance to Courtallam is two hours drive from Srivilliputtur.

Papanasam:

An all season place for water falls- that is 24*365 days you get water in
Agathiyar Falls. The hills, called “Pothigai Hills”, have dams on river
Tampraparani and much water falls. One who likes forests and nature
can venture to go to ‘BanaTheertham’ or ‘Kalyani Theertham’ by boat
in the hills or can take bath at the perennial ‘Agathiyar Aruvi’ at
Papanasam. This is a part of Mundanthurai Tiger sanctuary.
