Jamaica found its soul in 1962. Freed from colonial rule, Jamaicans were busy creating a
new musical language, combining traditional African music with elements of American jazz
and R&B, and broadcasting it from every street-corner sound system on the island. This
is the birth of reggae.

From the frenzied sound of The Skatalites, to the rock-steady throb of the Heptones and
Bob Marley, the rhythm is undeniable. This is folk music, this is ghetto music, this is music
that resists commercialization, even when it goes platinum. Producer Stephan Sechi cranks
up the Big Fish Audio sound system and takes you back to your island roots with Dread -
Roots Reggae.

HOW TO USE

Dread - Roots Reggae has been formatted in three of today’s most popular file types: REX2, WAV,
and Apple Loops. With these three formats, you can work with every major sampling/looping
device on the market! Every file has been carefully edited to loop perfectly without any
complications. Take advantage of the additional info and tagging using Apple Loops with Garage
Band, Soundtrack, or even Logic 7. Edit and rearrange your grooves with the REX2 file flexibility.
And of course, the industry standard WAV files can be loaded into almost any digital audio or
sample playback program.

Whenever possible, we have included the exact same material in all three formats. However, due
to the nature of the REX2 format, we have omitted the hits and the main mixes, but otherwise
have maintained consistency with the other two formats.
