The Effortless, Yet Seemingly Impossible Tragedy

The Nazi reign over Jewish people was one of the most horrific, if not the most horrific,

happenings of our universal society to this date. This control over Germany killed many

people of the country, and it was almost too easy to commit these millions of murders

considering the German social conditions, which was in its current state as a result of the Treaty

of Versailles, major debt and inflation, etc. Yet, it is still frightening to know that it took Adolf

Hitler not long, as well as without much effort, to predominate the German society.

Nazis were able to obtain such large control in a short period of time largely because of

the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, as this caused major debt and the inflation of taxes as

well as the basic means to survive. The German currency became worthless. People were no

longer able to buy simple things like bread. Things got so desperate that people would use

money to stick on their walls as a replacement for wallpaper, as it was actually cheaper than

buying the wallpaper itself. Because the majority of people were starving, restless, and poor,

they were easily taken advantage of. This was the biggest tool used by Adolf Hitler and the

Nazis to gain complete control.

Hitler promised the unfortunate people of Germany that there would be great change

under his rule, he made them believe that he could change their economic turmoil. Gradually,

he was able to brainwash the entire country. Everyone would believe in his words, and the

fascist views of the Nazis. Hitler began to turn the people against Jews, as well. Already, the

Jewish people were not particularly accepted in Germany, or anywhere else for that matter.

Jews were better educated, and they received higher-paying jobs that the otherwise Christian

citizens would not usually receive. People did not agree with many of their religious views
either, and they especially detested their religious practices held under the public eye. But with

the influence of Adolf Hitler, the majority of the German population would soon accept nothing

pertaining to Jewish people. Hitler had now obtained power over virtually everyone in the

German society. And he would use this power to begin the start of the Holocaust.

The Holocaust, also known as the Shoah, was the extermination of about 6 million Jewish

people – two-thirds of the total population residing in Germany – throughout Nazi-occupied

territory during World War II. Not only were Jewish people killed, but many others including

homosexuals, disabled citizens, Jehovah's witnesses, and other political/religious opponents

were also slaughtered by the Nazi regime. These, combined with the Jewish people, came to

approximately 15 million deaths total.

The tragedies that occurred during Hitler's reign were almost too much for any living

being to comprehend. And yet, it was as effortless as it was hideously cruel to pull off such an

otherwise seemingly impossible feat: the brainwashing of an entire country for the sake of

destroying innocent lives in the most malicious way known to mankind.
