Dear All,

I am extremely happy to extend greetings for the year 2010.

You are aware that we prepared our long term goal to achieve academic autonomy

by 2008 in the year 2003. Having acquired autonomous status, we have

successfully implemented “Joyful Learning Model” which is widely appreciated inRecipient of PRAJ
Maha-Intrapreneur
India and abroad. The students and staff have understood the flexibility in the
Award 2009
curricula and this model is implemented to derive maximum benefits for the

development of the students through this flexibility.

It is indeed a great pleasure to inform you that I have been identified as one of the recipients for
award of PRAJ Maha Intrapreneur Award 2009 under category B reserved for NGOs, Semi
Government, Society & Trust.

Intrapreneur has been a special word coined & recognized in the corporate world for last few
years. Intrapreneurs are those managers who are result-oriented, ambitious, rational and competitive with
high risk taking ability and inquisitive mind. They are challenged by innovation at the same time have an
understanding of their organization and a belief in their colleagues.

The award consists of a certificate, a memento and cash award of Rupees One Lakh which was presented to
me on Saturday, 19th December 2009 in a special function arranged by PRAJ Industries Ltd. at the hands
of Mr. Nitin Paranjpe, CEO & MD, Hindustan Unilever Limited.

I am extremely indebted to you for the continuous support and guidance which you have been giving to me
for last several decades. It is only because of your guidance that I have been achieving awards and
receiving felicitations from many organizations. Kindly continue offering me blessings and best wishes
in future .

I hope this decade would go a long way in the history of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology and by end of
2010, we would be a well known Institute with due national and international accreditation.

Wish you all the best again.

POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
SPECIALISATIONS IN HEAT POWER ENGINEERING & DESIGN
ENGINEERING

Mechanical Engineering envisages the development, design, manufacturing and maintenance of

machinery: With the development of industrial changes the scope of Mechanical Engineering has been
enlarged. There has been steady progress from simple machines to more complicated and advanced
ones. Today, machines with extremely intelligent functions are popular. The present age demands
Mechanical Engineering specialists who have the capacity of adaptability and creativity in the new
technical areas. Mechanical Engineers should have knowledge not only in their own specialized fields
but also in wide interdisciplinary fields as well. To meet the above requirements Mechanical Engineering
department offers the post graduate courses in Heat Power Engineering and Design Engineering.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

Vishwakarma Institute of Technology started undergraduate course in Mechanical Engineering in 1986

and postgraduate course in 1996. The University of Pune has recognized the department as research
center for Ph.D. program from September 2005. Since then, Mechanical Engineering Department has
emerged as one of the leading departments in Vishwakarma Institute of Technology.
The department has well qualified and dedicated faculty which includes 8 Professors, 13 Assistant
Professors, and 13 Lecturers and 2 Adjunct Professors. The Department is well known for its high
academic standard, well-maintained discipline and complete infrastructure facilities.
The undergraduate as well as post graduate programmes in Mechanical Engineering have been
accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
The Department has maintained a good rapport with Industry and R & D organizations. The Department
has student's chapter of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers, USA) and ASHRAE (American Society
of Heating Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers) The Department has Center of Excellence in the
field of (i) Energy & Environmental Studies and (ii) Computer Aided Design & Computer Aided
