We strongly recommend that you send your application by REGISTERED POST and include a self
addressed REGISTERED ENVELOPE for return post to you.
PERSONS ENTERING THAILAND AS TOURISTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ENGAGE IN ANY FORM OF EMPLOYMENT.
A. A Tourist Visa allows you to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days. You may apply for a number of entries and each
entry allows you to stay for up to 60 days. However you must leave the country and re-enter to go onto your next
entry.
A. Non-Immigrant Visa allows you to stay for up to 90 days. A Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visa allows you to stay
for up to 1 year however you must leave after each 90 day period and re-enter. These two visas cannot be issued
to Tourists.
Q. I plan to visit other countries around Thailand and I plan to be in Thailand for less than 30 days. However my
airline ticket shows more than 30 days in Thailand. Do I need to apply for a visa?
A. Yes. If your airline ticket shows more than 30 days you must apply for a visa before entering Thailand even if
you plan to obtain an airline or rail ticket to a third country upon arrival in Thailand.
Q. I would like to seek employment while in Thailand. Your requirements for a Non Immigrant Visa state that I must
have a letter from the company or institution I will be working with when I apply for my visa. If I don't have this letter
can you issue a Non Immigrant Visa so I can still look for work?
A. No. We cannot issue Non Immigrant Visa for seeking employment. You would have to apply for a Tourist Visa
and when you are hired by a company in Thailand, you may be required to leave the country to obtain an
appropriate visa. Your employer in Thailand should advise you of your requirements.
Q. My spouse is Thai and we will be visiting his/her family for more than 60 days. Can I obtain a Non Immigrant
Visa?
A. Yes. You need to submit a copy of your marriage certificate along with your application for a visa.
Q. When paying for the visa can I use personal or company cheque?
A. No. We only accept postal order or cash.
Q. Can I send more than one application and passport in the same envelope?
A. Yes. Ensure that there is enough postage on the self addressed registered envelope for us to return them to
you.
Summary Of Visa Regulations
STEP 1.
Complete and sign ONE application form. A separate form is required for each traveller regardless of age, including
babies.
STEP 2.
Submit by post with completed application form.
2.1 Your passport which should be valid for at least SIX MONTHS from date of arrival in Thailand
2.2 TWO recent photographs.
2.3 The appropriate fees (see STEP 5).
2.4 A registered self addressed envelope for the return of your passport with sufficient postage.
STEP 3.
FOR OTHER PURPOSES THAN TOURISM, please submit EVIDENCE SUBSTANTIATING YOUR PURPOSE OF
STAY. Examples of such evidence are: in case of transit, a confirmed travel document (air ticket etc.) showing
Thailand as point of transit; in case of business trip, a letter from your employer and/or business counterpart in
Thailand; in case of work in Thailand, a letter of employment from your prospective employer; in case of settlement
in Thailand with Thai Spouse/Children/Parents, your certificate of marriage/birth.
NOTE: As the consulate is not a public office all Visa applications must be made by post to:
STEP 4.
As all visa applications must be made by post it is important to follow these instructions. You must supply a SELF
ADDRESSED REGISTERED ENVELOPE WITH SUFFICIENT POSTAGE (i.e. 2 passports or more will require
extra postage) in order for your passport to be returned to you. Please note that Franked SAE's or SAE's which
have postage coupons instead of stamps on them will not be accepted. Applicants from the North of Ireland should
note that payment must be in Euro and must include an extra €5 Euro to cover registered postage. Apply for your
visa about 4 weeks before the date of your departure. No responsibility can be accepted for financial loss
associated with the application for a visa. Be sure you will not need your passport in the meantime.
Please allow 7 WORKING DAYS for your Visa to be processed and returned to you by post and you must enter
Thailand within 90 days from the date of issue of your visa.
