Practice Greenhealth Enters Partnership with Johnson & Johnson

for Health Care Sustainability Research and Training

Program Will Help Healthcare Facilities Reduce Environmental Footprint

(Arlington, VA) Practice Greenhealth today announced a partnership with Johnson &
Johnson to launch a sustainability research and training program within the U.S.
health care sector. The partnership aims to prepare professionals at hospitals and
other health care facilities to reduce environmental impacts and develop sustainable
operations at their facilities.

Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading organization for healthcare organizations

committed to sustainable practices, has developed tools and programs to help
health facilities develop more sustainable operations, including programs in clean
energy, environmental purchasing, waste management, and chemical reduction.
Johnson & Johnson, a Practice Greenhealth member, is providing resources for the program.
The Company has been a leader in environmental sustainability since 1990, when it created
its first environmental goals. Every five years, the Johnson & Johnson Company sets new
long-term goals that help its companies reduce their environmental footprint.

“We are grateful for the support from Johnson& Johnson which is central to our delivery of
the training and guidance health care facilities need,” stated Bob Jarboe, Executive Director,
Practice Greenhealth. “Over the next two years, they will support three separate
components of the sustainability initiative: research; development and implementation of a
training program; and design of evaluation mechanisms.”

“Sustainability measures being taken by health facilities today will have a great impact on
public health,” stated Alphonse Iannuzzi, Senior Director, Worldwide Environment, Health &
Safety, Johnson & Johnson. “We are pleased to support this important project which will
help the health care community reduce its environmental footprint.”

Practice Greenhealth’s Sustainability Training Program is designed to encourage

health care institutions to create Sustainability Coordinator/Green Team positions
within their organizations and to provide the training and tools needed to assure
their success. These staff are responsible for the coordination, direction and
oversight of all components of their facility’s sustainability efforts.

Practice Greenhealth is the nation’s leading membership and networking

organization for institutions in the healthcare community that have made a
commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly practices. Members include hospitals,
healthcare systems, businesses and other stakeholders engaged in the greening of
healthcare to improve the health of patients, staff and the environment.
