1) Purpose
‘The test to be carried out with the following engine load in order to setle the relation between ship's
‘speed engine loads.

speed shall be measured by Differential Global Positioning System with comection to
calm and deep sea condition and official speed shall be determined by the mean of the
‘consecutive runs and the correction shall be applied in accordance with NSMB methods
if the sea state during speed measurement is exceeding Beaufort No.0 of wind scale
‘The shaft revolution and brake KW may be averaged similarly.
5.2) All the observation items are to be conducted under condition that ship's speed and shaft
revolution are regulated.
Approach run must be of sufticient distance to secure steady condition.
5.3) Main engine power and RPM to be measured by indicator card for official record.

5. TURNING TRIAL,
(st ship only)
1) Purpose
‘To know ship's turning maneuverability, max. advance, max. transfer and max. tactical diameter
2) Condition
+= Sea trial condition ( Refer to 2. )
3) Method
With the ship initially at teast 90 % of the ship's speed corresponding to 85 % of the maximum engine
output(NCR), move the rudder quickly to hard over starboard 35” and hold until ship has made two
complete circle.
Return rudder to midship and hold until full ahead speed is restored.
Move the rudder quickly to hard over port 35” and hold until ship has made two complete circle.
4) Observation
4.1) Ship's speed by DOPPLER SPEED LOG.
4.2) Ship's heading angle by GYRO COMPASS
4.3) Shaft RPM.
4.4) Wind direction & velocity, weather, sea state and sea depth atthe start of the test
4.5) Necessary time for completing the turning test
4.6) Initial turning test to be conducted for the first vessel only, but the test data achived
from the first vessel to be provided for subsequent vessels,
