GAS SWEETENING

TECHNICAL
BULLETIN
Forward
COMART has extensive background in treating sour gas

mixtures and plants liquids for removal of hydrogen

sulfide, carbon dioxide and Mercaptants, principally with

alkanolamine solution.
Significant improvements have been made in feed gas

pre-contact and temperature control, low pressure drop

reactor and stripper design, solution conditioning and

regeneration.

Similar treatment is given to plant liquids for H2S and

CO2 removal.
Other process are selected for heavy Mercaptant removal.

Process Description
The sour natural gas containing H2S and CO2 enters the

Amine contactor, and is contacted by a descending stream

of Lean Amine as it rises through trays or packed tower.

The Rich Amine is disengaged from the sweetened gas

which passes upward through a specially designed mist

eliminator; the mist eliminator thoroughly demists the

gas and minimizes Amine loss.

Rich Amine leaves the Amine contactor through a control

valve which reduces its operating pressure.

The Rich Amine is passed through the Charcoal filter and

Cartridge Filter, and the Rich / Lean Amine Exchanger,

where it is heated before it enters the trayed or packed

Amine Stripping Column.
