First Lesson -- Preliminary Picking

This drill will give you the basic right hand picking technique you need to continue!
Practicing this will develop the confidence to pluck the right string at the right time and .

Take your time and, for now, use all down strokes of the pick.
     

Repeating this exercise will give you the most benefit!


Work slowly and be patient!

Notes on these exercises


1. Be sure to relax and use just enough left hand pressure to get a clean tone from your guitar.
2. Focus on coordinating your right and left hand movements!
3. Watch your fingers closely and play with confidence!
4. When you think you're really good at these, try them without looking at your fingers!
5. Make up some of your own variations on these drills!
