Charles. They, like you and I, believe in
the power of one. That one person who
cares enough to volunteer in a North
American inner city to help a child learn
to read. That one person who chooses to
provide healing and comfort to a patient
in India with leprosy. That one person
who labors under difficult circumstances
in an operating room at our hospital in
Cambodia, helping to heal and provide
great hope for a frightened mother,
father or child.
But there’s one more person I’m
thankful for…and that person is you.
You, too, have the unique opportunity
to exercise your power of one. No one
can give your gift, volunteer your time,
or say your prayers for a world in need.
Only you can do these things.
As we reflect on the past 20 years,
we are humbled by God’s blessings, even
as we are honored by the opportunity to
help bring hope and healing to people

addressing the needs of the poor
throughout the world…
At HOPE worldwide we develop integrated solutions to the
underlying problems of poverty on a non–sectarian basis by building
strategic partnerships, engaging local leaders, and leveraging available
resources. The poor typically work hard but struggle to break a cycle
of poverty that often spans generations. Whether it’s training teachers
in remote villages or improving a community’s access to health care,
HOPE worldwide works with the poorest of the poor through Centers
of HOPE worldwide to create solutions for poverty, hunger and despair.

Celebrating 20 Years of Compassion
One has to wonder what might have happened if Noah had said to God, “You know, I don’t do boats…” or if a young
David, slingshot in hand, had trembled in fear, saying, “That giant just scares me to death.” And what if 20 years ago
HOPE worldwide, in its infancy, had said, “The world is in just too much pain for us to make a meaningful impact…so
we’ll just sit this one out.”
One thing is certain: if God’s people had not chosen to meet the challenges at hand throughout the course of history,
there would be few heroes of the faith…and even fewer memorable responses to God’s calling on people’s lives.
