Sales of broadcast and audio/visual hardware, technical consulting services, and
contract authorship of technical articles and advertizing and training literatu
re.
October 2003 – July 2007: Staff/Chief Engineer, Bonneville (now Entercom) Broadcasti
ng San Francisco Radio Group, San Francisco, CA
One of three engineers (including Director of Engineering) responsible for all m
aintenance of the technical plant in four San Francisco radio stations. Constru
cted new studios (consolidation) with colleagues. Primary responsibility was pl
anning, installation, and upgrading. Also performed duties of Chief Operator fo
r all four stations.
March 2003 – October 2003: Owner, Media Technical Consulting, Pleasant Hill, CA
Provided services to broadcasters and others on design, implementation, and use
of equipment. Clients included KOLO-TV, Reno, Nevada (Gray Television, ABC Affi
liate). Made considerable repair to station after it had problems with installa
tion of new equipment.
August 2001 – March 2003: Customer Service/Applications Engineer, Orban, San Leandro
, CA –manufacturer of professional audio equipment for the broadcast industry
Primary customer contact for company’s line of audio processing products. Assisted
customers with installation, application, adjustment, and troubleshooting and re
pair. Wrote Engineering Bulletins for customer use in retrofitting necessary mo
difications. Provided engineering with support for new product development. Wo
rked extensively with repair technicians to assure customer equipment was proper
ly diagnosed and repaired.
June 2000- June 2001: Engineering Manager, Loral Skynet San Francisco Teleport,
Richmond, CA-operator of world-wide satellite networks
Managed maintenance technicians (3 people reported to me). Provided support to
Operations Department. Performed research for new product requirements and syste
m upgrades. Provided leadership in troubleshooting and system repairs.
May 98 - June 2000: Engineering Supervisor, KPIX-TV/CBS INC, San Francisco, CA
Hired to provide daily engineering maintenance management. Supervised and manag
ed Engineering Maintenance personal (7 people reported to me). Managed Y2K upgr
ade project. Designed and oversaw construction of KU-band Satellite Truck. Mai
ntained Department “Project List†. I was Acting Director of Engineering from March 2000
until June of 2000, following resignation of Director of Engineering and Assist
ant Director of Engineering.

April 96 – May 98: Applications Engineer, later Regional Sales Manager, Giga-tronics
, San Ramon, CA-manufacturer of laboratory-grade electronic test equipment (main
ly for military)
Started as Applications Engineer and sales lead qualifier. Promoted from Applica
tions Engineer in April 1997. After promotion to Sales Manager, responsible for
all domestic and Canadian sales activity. Managed domestic representative orga
nization in the U.S. and Canada. Also planned, designed, and managed domestic tr
ade shows. Customers included Air Force, Navy, Motorola, and Qualcomm.
April 94 - April 96: Radio Products Manager, TFT Inc., Santa Clara, CA-manufactu

Product Specialist for company's line of radio and television broadcast equipmen
t. Hired to increase sales in assigned territories and manage dealer and repres
entative organizations. Also wrote promotional literature and advertising copy
, did trade show booth design and management, and sold company’s specialty products
directly to end users.
February 93 - April 94: Owner, Specialized Electronic Applications, Pleasant Hil
l, CA
Formed company as systems design and consulting service, with emphasis on RF equ
ipment specification and design. Primary client was Sony Systems Integration Di
vision; worked on Hughes DirecTV and USSB/Hubbard satellite broadcast systems, a
lso Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway.
September 91 - February 93: Senior Project Engineer - Senses Data Communications
, San Jose-manufacturer of wireless security alarms and spread spectrum radio sy
stems
Design group member of team developing and prototyping Spread Spectrum data comm
unications radio. Developed design criteria, including proprietary antenna syst
ems. Specified and purchased/procured product’s components.
June 86 - September 91: Chief Engineer, KMEL FM Radio, Century Broadcasting, San
Francisco
Technical plant management. Rehabilitated and rebuilt station. Moved station t
o new studios. Did system design and installation of new equipment (with help o
f one assistant).
March 86 - June 86: Staff Engineer - KOIT AM/FM Radio, Bonneville Broadcasting,
San Francisco
Position was part-time only. Performed maintenance on all studio and transmitte
r equipment.
