“A Note from brAd….”
This past weekend many things were celebrated at Fifth Avenue. We rejoiced that we have a
relationship with Jesus Christ. We rejoiced with our graduates that all their hard work paid off.
We rejoiced that Nathan Hawkes accepted Christ through baptism. Many rejoiced that they
completed our latest elective on “Discovering their spiritual gifts” because God is revealing to
them ways they can better live for Him. We rejoiced as we had four of our newest families
attend our reception to help them become better connected to FACC. God is so good!

As we look toward the Summer months, I want to challenge each of our families to resolve that
they will be committed to attend weekly. I do not want you to miss out on the numerous reasons
for rejoicing. Typically many churches regret the Summer months because they are not known
for numerical growth. But I hope you will help our church to become the exception to the rule.
Many great things are beginning to happen here and we need your help to continue. Don’t let up!
Keep on keeping on! As our church grows, we are in need of more servants to help us accomplish
all that we have to do.

Jesus once said, “For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life
as a ransom for many.” Some of you may read that to mean that “God doesn’t want my service.
God doesn’t need me.” Nothing could be further from the truth. We are called to serve God.
Find your niche. Dave, Glen and I were hired to perform certain tasks, but that does not mean
that we should not lay aside our professional hats at times and assist in taking care of needs. It
would be easy for us to say, “That’s not my job!” But if we did, it sure wouldn’t sound like Jesus
now would it? Each of us find ways to meet a need beyond our calling. Now we are asking you to
do the same. Step up to the plate.

If you would like to speak with me about your giftedness, or about how you feel God might be
able to use your skill set at Fifth Avenue, please call me at 740.550.9882. I know God can use
you to accomplish something great for the Kingdom.

I want to leave you with this scripture today from Jude 1:20. It says: “You, dear friends, must
continue to build your lives on the foundation of your holy faith.”

In His Service,

Brad Seevers

VBS Helpers Still Needed

VBS is quickly approaching and many people have stepped up already to teach classes, prepare
food, do crafts, and accomplish the many other things that need to be done for this awesome
week. Now we need people to fill in the gaps. Our major need is for classroom helpers. Our
teachers for VBS are awesome at what they do and cumulatively they are bringing over 75 years
of experience to the table. Even so, their ability to be effective can be greatly increased with
excited and helpful adult volunteers. So if you think you can hang out with some crazy kids for a
week, do the activities they are doing, and help keep them focused, then we need you to step
forward to make our Vacation Bible School the best it can be. Please call the church office in the
coming weeks to let us know if you are able to help in this way.
Congratulations to Jordan and
Sarah Ellis on the birth of their
son, Ian Michael, on Sunday, May

great grandparents (for the first
time) are George and Alberta Ellis. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Nancy

prayers are with you and your families.
